Seeing Fubuki and the others, I'm starting to wonder what kind of world they are trying to protect.
Or rather what is their it meaning of protecting. And what is a battlefield means to them to the core. In the first episode, the way Fubuki looks up to others and wanting to fight along side. This series is already interesting based on very sensitive parts people find problem with. Kanmusu are some people's worst recurring nightmare for example. |

Episode 2 did a great job continuing on with the core narrative, especially Fubuki's development. The little training montage of sorts they did with her really was very nice.
As I had hoped/suspected, the SoL side of this show continues to be strong. It looks like Episode 3 will switch back to more action. It's interesting reading speculations on this thread pertaining to possible "ship sinking", which would involve character death of course. Pulling such a thing in Episode 3 would be rather ballsy, especially given the tone of the show so far. However, I'm inclined to think it might be a bit too drastic a shift. If they want to amp up the drama, having one or more of the girls/ships get very badly damaged and put out of commission for a long time, but not outright killed in battle, might be a better choice.

IIRC, fandom had a tendency to portray Ashigara as a christmas cake who always look for a man and can't get one. The fact that she is a teacher and how anime tend to portray female teacher as christmas cakes (the one in Lucky Star, Marimo in Muv Luv or the teacher in MAdoka) just drive the point even further.
