Hmm ... well, ep 1 looks pretty good to me so far. Consistent in most ways with the first 3 seasons afaict, and that means thumbs up for me.
It was unexpectedly nice to see many of the characters from past seasons pop up again, although some of the returning faces surprised me quite a bit. Spoiler for Ep 1 Spoilers:
The OP was okay, I guess, but I really enjoyed the ED - just my cup of tea. Kinda endearing to see Natsume's human friends pop up with him around the igloo like that. I give ep 1 an 8/10 vote.

I hate Monday's and the Winter but more Natsume is the only thing to make it worthwhile.
Anyways as for the Opening and Ending like everyone else I adore the ending (both song and sequence). As for the Opening the song is just okay but the images that go with is are just the sweetest. And who knows the song might grow on me that's what happened with the one from the last series. Although I still feel the first opening was best! Also wasn't expecting such a plot heavy episode to start things off but I will say Spoiler:
And while I liked and could sympathize with Natsume's reasons with not telling people about Youkai Spoiler:

It'd appear that Natsume is finally growing into a series that can fully say "This is NOT the first episode"! I like how it started off by quickly brushing through the background building to establish the so-called first episode of a new season. Taki and Tanuma's explanation of Natsume's change and fear is a bit Natsume-off in terms of pacing, but at least that bit of info dump is out of the way.
the other change I like is how this season starts off with a bang, full of action, quiet moments and humour as always. not too sure about the OP and ED. They just don't hit me as powerfully as the other Natsume ost. Come to think of it, adding the 4th season would make 48 Natsume episodes in total! hurray!!

I hate the new opening song but I love the animation (little Natsume is co cute), so I guess the two balance each other out. The ED is in line with the previous ones, so it didn't disappoint me one bit.

My favorite scene was Tanuma explaining to Taki why Natsume is still hiding his powers from the people close to him. It makes tremendous sense and it goes to show once again how kind-hearted and selfless Natsume is. And yay for more Taki! I can never get enough of her.
