Excellent, EXCELLENT.
This episode skimped nothing. And everything is as I imagined it in the novels. And Shaft pulled out their A game for their animation this week. The only down side is Kizu isn't released. So now people are going to have trouble reconciling this Hanekawa with the future film. Also they are cutting the OP surprisingly often. Guess they knew it was never possible to animate the Hana arc in the timeslot.

EDIT: Bad news, next week is a recap episode. Guess Shaft would be Shaft. Still, that's bad even for them.

I believe that each arc has 5 episodes = 25 episodes. But if I remember correctly, there are 26 episodes total in this season time slot. So, I always wonder which arc will have more episodes. Well, I guess that's the answer. Even though recap episode is nothing new but I never expect it to be this soon. I hope that they can manage it for the remaining episodes.

This episode was nothing short of amazing.
Pretty much what makes Monogatari so great. Excellent climax. Actually shed tears. Damn shame Hanekawa now dyes her hair! Then again, I guess after what I know about Karen's pink hair it makes sense! I should probably watch the rest of the stories as movies, from start to finish in one sitting. So if they have multiple recaps that leaves us with 18? 19? episodes? I'm starting to worry again, it's Kabuki like... really long? |

Wow... That's really a straight forward answer. On top of that, he answered her without any hesitation and with a smile too. Even if you are not Hanekawa fan, it can still make you feel sympathy for her. Such an amazing episode. A very nice conclusion for Hanekawa arc. The music is also top notch.

Freakin' masterpiece...Nishio's themes are rather pedestrian as a matter of literature (i.e Tsubasa's entire character arc could be summed up as "don't run from/cut away your feelings") but it exemplifies exactly the kind of humanism which I think it is necessary never to forget. The most basic of themes might be the most valuable; I will embrace them however many hundreds of times I and they meet. In comparison hundreds of other anime can't even deliver a theme of this simplicity with any narrative coherence or sincerity of heart. I imagine this was probably one of Nishio's more middling/standard/throwaway works as far as his novels go but SHAFT's execution elevates it to one of the best arcs of the Monogatari series.
As to the recap...lol holy shit that is pretty bad news. I just hope that the recaps are not at all considered part of the actual episode count and SHAFT will finish up whatever is left after the airing season with web releases. I don't actually care that much about the airing schedule, just so long as the narrative integrity of the episodes remains in tact. SHAFT can bring on the recaps as far as I'm concerned if they want so long as each novel gets its proper 5 (and hopefully one with one extra) episodes. |

The montage when Tsubasa was reading her letter was absolutely fantastic. It's the kind of things you only see in Shaft shows. True art.
Excellent conclusion to Tsubasa's story. She's finally become a proper human being by accepting all parts of herself, negative and positive. I felt pretty bad for her when Araragi rejected her, but that was the obvious outcome. She's stopped running away from her own feelings and will be able to move on now. Araragi's entrance was so goddamn cool I almost fell for him. He's one of the few anime leads who actually deserve to have a harem. I'm really curious to find out what he's been up to all this time. Looks like he's been in quite a battle judging by the condition of his clothes. I assume we'll find out in the next arc.
