It looks like we've got a short peak at the OVA:

It'd better be a full-episode in length

I've started watching the DVD version. I was absolutely astonished (pleased, but astonished) that, despite the sport being called tankery on the back of the DVD case and in the menus, it is properly referred to as "Sensha-do" in the subtitles for the show itself. They even included a translator's note the first time explaining it as a martial art, the name meaning "way of the tank" etc.

So it looks like the T29 and T30 would be totally legal in Sensha-do without any further doubt. According to the article, one was produced before the war ended.

Though I assume you could assemble either or with available parts, since the components of Heavy Tanks T30 and T29 were designed by the cutoff.

EDIT: On the plus side, we now have another confirmed replacement for Rabbit Team's M3 Lee if they ever have the desire to do so. But I feel the Freshmen would be too attached to the M3 to do it.

Find two more volley ball players and replace that antique of a tank that is the I-Go! :P

Though I would be the last to deny the necessity of replacing Duck Team's tank, I would think it is actually Rabbit Team that would find it easier to change tanks. Canonically, they take care of their tank but they don't raise a defense for it like Duck Team did. Also, they are really pragmatists (they actually go out loud in Ep8 pointing out that there's always next year (they thought) and it isn't really very realistic to expect to win against last year's champion with a new school with shoddy tanks - I'm sure many here were nodding). Give them a chance to switch to another tank and even let them stay as one team and watch them leap.

They also have to consider that while there will be many tanks suitable for 4-man Duck team, 6-man tanks are rare. If a decent one swims by and they miss it, they may never get one again.

I think they'll take it.

Fair enough. If Freshman Team (or would that be Sophomore Team?) is to get a T29 or T30, I really REALLY recommend the T29. I can't see them working the T30's 155mm gun, and 105mm is the almost the upper limit on how big a shell a full-grown man could handle, let alone a 16-year-old schoolgirl.

Edit: That said, I am absolutely not jealous of the crews of Pravda's IS-2 and KV-2, especially the latter. It makes me hope they have a stash of T-70 and T-80 light tanks that they mostly use, and what we see is just their Comp lineup.

I'd mentioned before that these girls should be really fit and toned by the end of the year. Though if they're working the 155mm the loaders would be fit and toned like Mikasa Ackerman.

Probably more so. 155mm shells are heavy enough that they need mechanical assistance, and I'm not offhand sure that would actually be legal. The T29 at least gets them toned, and is confirmably legal since at least all its parts were together, if not the tank itself, by war's end.

Now I can see Saori getting her seat and radio set, Mako getting her seat and driver's controls, and Hana getting the rest of the gun.

All we need is a complete tank to put the girls in, and we'll be complete!

*wonders who he must give his money to to make this dream come true*

So these are apparently more unnamed character designs for the Anzio OVA, featuring some of the Anzio tankers:

I wonder which tank parts they'll give Mako and Saori. I don't think a floating radio is that exciting, but also don't see large pieces of the PzIV's front being made.

It's not like you can't have a radio without a tank, and Saori will most likely come with a complementary headset. As for Mako, just the front driver controls consisting of the floor, foot pedals and steering levers would make for a good display accessory, all of which can be assembled as a single unit.

I do think that how they did Yukari's accessories is clever, but if the pattern continues it'll look a little odd to have the five crewmembers doing their individual things with floating tank parts.

It would seem that the PzIV model that they used to display the figmas together was a custom job? I thought I'd read that description somewhere.

Ah, we see the rest of Darjeeling's tank crew! Do they name the driver and radio operator?
