GunBuster 2 coming out!

The original Gunbuster OVA was one of my favorite animes of all time and now Gainax is working on another 6 ep OVA! I hope it lives up to the original.

^_^;;; I absolutely love GunBuster... I don't know whether to laugh or cry thinking of GAINAX trying to do anything with it at this point. Who are they going to get to write and direct it? is my first question...

edit: and then there are those worrisome character designs... ah, the hell with it. I am just gonna pass on this. I can't see how they are gonna come up with a bigger GunBuster, better characters, more dangerous aliens or even top the fanservice... It's a bad idea.

1: Gunbuster is one of my absolute favourites.
2: It's a complete story, and I can't imagine how you make a decent sequel.
3: GAINAX have made great titles in situations where I couldn't imagine it happening several times before.

So for now, I shall remain cautiously optimistic. GAINAX have never really failed me yet.

Gunbuster's Plot would be completely imppossible to extend... No really, for those that haven't seen it, the 6 ep OVA basically spans the course of human history from the near future to the far far future

Are they going to remake it somehow? In a way, the animation is dated now... and just like many Gainix projects of that era, they totally ran out of money for the last episode and reverted to B&W stills with voice over for the climactic battle scene.... I wouldn't mind them simply reanimating the series. But don't you dare take out the brilliant quirkiness and sci-fi over-the-topness that made the original so enjoyable. (Note, as a physicist, I especially enjoyed the pitifull attempt at pseudo-science used in this series...)

Well yes, Gainax should stick to making short OVA series instead of TV animes series, because for most of the TV series, they are real genius at making really good titles and then screwing up the endings for them (i.e. Evangelion, Mahoromatic 2nd series).

I almost gone insane watching the last few episodes of Mahoromatic 2nd series because of the screwy ending, that's why I still have got the confident in starting to watch Kono Minikuku mo Utsukushii Sekai yet, as Gainax most likely going screw up the ending for it on purpose as well, based on their weird tradition or something.

Gunbuster was really really good I agree......I guess as long as it's a OVA not a TV-series, you should hopefully be able to enjoy the whole thing and not become furious in the end.

Everywhere on the net all points to the same japanese site which has taken down the file. (Rather unsurprisingly)

The thought of Gunbuster 2 fills me with dread. They were able to do good endings to TV series once, Nadia for example.
