I'd be worried if the website art were all we had to go by, but fortunately, they both look better in the magazine ads.

I just realized that the anime discussion thread for the Key of the Starry Heavens Arc and arcs before that is almost non-existent, so I dropped by.
I'm currently at the episode where the Anti-Link disengagement is successful and a colossal flying fish made of clock parts is now in the air. Oh, and "Michelle Lobster" is the sixth member of Oracion Seis Reborn, Imitatia. I'm rather surprised that Midnight (or rather, Brain the Second), of all persons, seems to be one of the most powerful beings in the arc. He was able to overwhelm the Archbishop into insanity, contributed to Cana assigning Fairy Tail groups for Oracion Seis' maximum advantage and theoretically created a new personality in Erigor, not to mention making it really difficult for deep sleeper Natsu to take a rest. I wonder if it has something to do with the "eternal midnight"? I doubt it, though. The Archbishop has been going through a lot of nightmares even before the Infinity Clock was assembled.

Wasn't the only reason he as beaten was because he went against the Hax Erza and she luckily have one of her hax powers of having a fake eye. |

I wouldn't call it a hax because the fact about Erza having an artificial eye was long established.
It also implies that Midnight's magic during the Nirvana Arc relied too much of visual contact. Seven years later, however, it seems that his magic evolved.

Anyway, I've finally finished the Key of the Starry Heavens Arc, and I say that while the part with Michelle and Lucy's long-running bonds was heart-wrenching, I felt that the arc deserved a few more episodes to smooth out the pacing.
The arc itself was great for a filler arc. Lucy becoming the core of the story was very welcome as she is the main character, after all. The Earthland versions of the Edolas characters was also fun to see (except Sugar Boy, bleh) and seeing Oracion Seis wasn't really a surprise to me after their humiliating defeat back during the Nirvana Arc. One thing I liked about the arc was how it put the guild's strengths into its weaknesses. First, the hotblooded attitude of the guild when it comes to affairs involving one of their kin made them vulnerable to the manipulations of the Oracion Seis through Imitatia. And second, the teamwork of key members of the Fairy Tail made them really awkward when it comes to mixed matchups. I felt that only Bickslow and Wendy got the lucky pick when they got paired up against Erigor, and their abilities still lack synergy. Of course, how they pull themselves together was fun to watch, especially Lucy momentarily becoming one with the Infinity Castle. Of course, the arc had some problems, namely the pacing. I felt like they spent too much time with the treasure hunting that the Infinity Castle part felt rushed. I also feel that Jean-Luc knew too much of the treasures of Zentopia. But then again, he's a relative of Will Neville, so I guess he's closely related to Zentopia than what he looks, actually. As I posted before, Brain the Second was a powerful being, but I don't understand much about his ability. I assume his magic manipulates incoming magic so that it misses him, or something. Anyway, Real Nightmare gave him a boost that eventually caused his downfall when Lucy turned things around. Anyway, if I didn't miss a single episode, then I'd be able to catch up with the Grand Magic Games Arc within the next 13 weekdays. After that, I'll be finally ready for the continuation of Fairy Tail this April. EDIT: A question, is Gildarts hitting on Laki?

The story's back to the manga canon with the Grand Magic Games Arc, and it seems that while the ones who were left behind became more powerful, they were only at par with Team Tenrou, which now lag seven years behind everyone else in Fiore. To make things worse, the Spirit King's sudden invitation to his realm robbed Team Tenrou of the three months they need to catch up.
Worse, Wendy only has five days to learn Grandine's new skills for her.

Is there any word on how long the new show will last for? Word has it that the original series was going to end its run at 48 episodes, then at 72, until finally it became successful enough to just keep going until its hiatus.
As it stands now, I'm going to wager that the new Fairy Tail anime will end when the GMG arc ends. It wouldn't be unrealistic, either; there's 42 chapters of unadapted material, just enough to be worked into a two-cour run with some padding. That, and the current official website character page seems prepped to only cover the characters from that arc. It'd be a shame, not being able to see some of the things after that go unanimated. But maybe if we're lucky, by the time it reaches the arc the manga's currently in, the manga will be on the verge of wrapping it up. Hopefully the new run will be successful enough to warrant it.

I was thinking that maybe they can add new scenes to make the anime longer without altering the original source.

I could definitely see the increased animation quality and the newer graphics. I notice, however, that the characters are now more similar to their manga designs than ever.
Dat Erza tho.
