Beside Miyuki's scene, i also hate that Masaki and many other magicians uses their "magic interference" to deflect bullets when the gun IS designed to deal with it. Even Tatsuya has to use Decomposition magic.

In the LN, there is not statement that he is capable of doing that. I used to imagine he just goes run n' gun.

Well, it looks like Mayumi is over her shock...I'm sure she will be trying to find out more.

As usual alot of stuff has been cut off.

Tatsuya action too little, but well next episode get to see him god mode with ulti.

Cocytus not grand enough when comparing to novel, disappointed.

Yeah we might as well throw in a hint of Jesus Christ to his abilities. Why not?

Trivia: Cocytus is the 9th circle of Hell in Dante's Inferno. The Devil there is frozen waist up in ice which slowly increases when he bats his wings as he tries to escape.

Tatsuya is Shiva, also known as the god of destruction and transformation. Not jesus christ.

He looked like he was healing to me, pretty much bringing people back from the dead. Hence why I said "hint of".

Tatsuya wearing a combat suit screams "beyond over-powered" as he can now bring terror to the skies!

Still, what a boring episode where terrorists are losing hard to those kids!

This was a terrible episode. Compressed pacing, axing out of many of the scenes that made this arc what it was, the nerfing of Miyuki just to reinforce the construction of her as nothing more than a branch of Tatsuya when she is more complex than that. Conveniently quick resolution of conflict, no sense of mortal danger conveyed. Bizarre and inconsistent usage of exposition (Magic Amplifier is more important than explaining Cocytus or Rupture....) . And some other unmentionable but hilariously badly scripted scenes, by order of the Moderators on this forum (ie the Ban on talk on Nationalism).

Basically, this episode is terrible - most things that could have easily gone wrong with Mahouka has gone wrong, the path of least resistance was taken.

You may or may not remember from the 9SC arc that Honoka's specialty is spells that manipulate light. She can use it to create images and illusions if she wants to, or refract it around an object to render it invisible.

As an anime watcher, what makes the bad guys ever think they even have a chance? It didn't look like they had any victories anywhere.

They started off with an initial surprise attack that had a burst of success. The problem is they suffered from critical intelligence failures in not recognizing that the Japanese military had units close enough to respond to their attack, nor did they realize specifically who the civilians were that they were attacking at the presentation center. As a result, the military was nearby to quickly counterattack, and their assault on the presentation stirred up several high-powered members of the Ten Clans and Hundred Families, not to mention the god of destruction who is their own personal nightmare.

They had to know that Juumonji, Mayumi, and Masaki would be there, though. It's not like it was a secret.

"Not a secret" doesn't prevent "arrogant enough to think mere students can't possibly be a threat to real soldiers" from being the case. They probably didn't bother to check the identities of the students becaue they didn't think they would matter.

Random thoughts. If Tatsuya is
Spoiler for Tatsuya's power level:
, you'd think the intelligence services would keep track of where everyone is and try to have plans in place if someone like 'Tats' goes rogue. It would argue too that if the Asian Alliance is a group of governments, and knowing that Japan had at least one person like Tatsuya, they'd have at least one of their own available if they felt they even had a real chance to win. Now I doubt anyone would look for Tatsuya in a high school, but he obviously is not keeping a very low profile. Maybe it's just a function of the adaptation...Maybe Yokohama is a data gathering exercise to root out what Japan has available. If the Alliance wins, great, if they lose, they gain valuable intelligence. Sigh....I'll just have to go read the 'source', I guess and wait for Season 2.
