There's more information on the news section it appears!

- Hinamizawa has a new threat from an organization called "Tokyo Magica"
- Rika transforms into "Oyashiro Rika" to fight them
- Rika, Hanyuu, Satoko's seiyuus will be singing the theme song "100% Magical Star ☆"

(Please correct me if I have translated any information incorrectly.)

Omfg, they had better be able to pull this off. If Higurashi gets made into a mahou shoujo anime even if only for one episode and they dont handle it carefully ima be sad. Well I guess I can't complain if I get to see Hanyuu again...

Considering that Madoka Magica had to rip off Higurashi for its awesome final ratings, this could quite possibly be the greatest trolling in all of anime.

EDIT: Awww, Rika's weapon is still her ceremonial hoe. That's ADORABLE!

They will change the OP song as well... So, "Happy! Lucky! Dochy!" is only for in ep.1 huh?
I wonder if they will make new ones for ep.2 and 3 too?

More new character designs...

Where are my Shii and Mii...

No new ep.1 sceenshots for them too!

The four with masks look like they would be Nomura, Takano, Okonogi and Teppei. I guess this is Tokyo Magica. No idea who the bulky guy in the last picture is. I wonder what's the meaning of Rena and Keiichi's uniforms... Is this happening in some kind of modernized Hinamizawa?

I guess Rika turns into Bernkastel when the grief seed is born... It all makes sense now!

Well this is quite unexpected development, but I won't complain.

I wonder if they're ever going to adapt the manga and DS arcs... Though I didn't expect them to be in this OVA anyway. Maybe a new season next year, Higurashi Matsuri or Kizuna. Or Umineko Chiru! I can't wait to see these either, even though they seem to be full of silliness.

Well, the organization that sponsored Takano's activities during Higurashi is called "Tokyo". I wonder if this has something to do with them.

Based on those outfits, I'm guessing the club activities are going to be pretty hectic. This kind of reminds me of that extra episode from School days where they all turn into magical characters and fought against some "evil" force.

I feel like Kira will be the last of Higurashi we'll actually see...the PS2 and DS sales did pretty well (I think?), and they are already voiced for the most part ><;

I wonder what the reception of these previews are in Japan. I keep seeing so much hate from the English-speaking fanbase for the lack of blood and gore, but would people really go for redundancy over cute fanservice that badly? Though, the incorporation of aspects from Mahou Shoujo has now divided the English fanbase quite a bit ^^;

I can't help but feel trolled now... Right after Madoka Magica, they give us this.

I'd actually be satisfied with anything, since I love Higurashi~
Er...though, I sort of feel that this is reaching creepy levels. A comedy was fine, but now they're really convinced to either:

A. Troll
B. Bring the fandom an overload of moe
C. Both

I go with C.

That weird man in last picture... Isn't he wearing the nail remover as his mark?

I have a bad feeling about this, since no Shii or Mii's design for ep2... Hope this's just my imagination.

What reason would they have to do this? Why can't they cut out Rena instead?
