Because Grunts need lovin' too!

Grunts are usually held in very low regard, but perhaps Cosmic Era grunts took a greater fall than most. Their role became nothing more than cannon fodders. Worse, they were 'static' cannon fodders.

Yet, background materials indicated otherwise. Theoretically, many grunt suits were designed to be versatile enough to handle a wide array of tactical maneuvers.

Thus, in an effort to recognize our disadvantaged grunt suits & (mostly unknown) pilots, why not tell us which grunt suit is your favorite grunt, and why.

The MAJOR Contestants (ones seen performing space combat) are as follows:

EA/OMNI

GAT-01 Strike Dagger
GAT-04 Windam

ZAFT

ZGMF-1000 ZAKU Warrior
ZGMF-2000 GOUF
ZGMF-1017 GINN
ZGMF-600 GuAIZ

ORB

MBF-M1 M1 Astray
MVF-M11C Murasame

Hmm... it's too bad that you don't have a bigger selection. The only mobile suit I really like in Seed/Destiny is the DOM Trooper, but that's just because I like the cut of its lines. Unfortunately, it's not really a line mobile suit so it probably doesn't qualify for this poll at all.

In terms of design philosophy, I think it should go hands down to the BuCUE. It's hands down the most practical mobile suit in the entire Gundam franchise, and it negates (or reduces) most of the drawbacks of the bipedal form.

Yeah, I realized that. However, I had 'balancing' in mind. If I included an entire catalog of ZAFT suits, it'd easily overwhelm the poll list and dwarf everyone else, thus I limited to suits capable of performing space combat only.

I like the GINN... mostly because it made way for the CGUE, which is pretty kickass.

My vote goes to the ZAKU all the way.

The reasons are simple.

The ZAKU is a proven unit. Sturdy, reliable and in the hands of good pilots (ex. Luna & Ray), capable of resisting against second (ex. DOM), and even first line mobile suits.

The ZAKU has a wide array of options available to its chassis and pilot, thus fulfilling the role of a multi-purpose mobile suit very well.

Agreed. If I could I'd pilot one all the time.

I think I'll go with the ZAKU. It's been around since the UC.

I like planes more, so out of the list, it would be Murasame. Plus, it has a nice pronounceable name. Close second would be the Gouf Ignited, I just love when it takes out its sword.

The Murasame is arguably the most maneuverable line suit in the cosmic era. Unfortunately, background materials did not reveal additional options available to the Murasame.

The M1 Astray on the other hand, could be equipped with additional weaponry, such as a rail-gun. But that was available only on manga format.

It'd be nice to know if the Murasame had other things going on for it, but we will probably have to wait until the movie (and additional productions) to find out.

Zaku & DOM Trooper.

I would pick the Strike Dagger/Windam if they could use different Striker packs. But they can't, instead, Omni makes specific Daggers for those purposes(very inefficient in terms of cost).

The Windam can use Striker packs, as can the Dagger L's and 105 Daggers.

I don't think it even needs to have additional armaments. For the most part, a beam rifle and saber is all that's required. And being comfortable with both aerial and space combats without needing extra equipment (that I know of) is a bonus. Now all Orb needs are marine ms.

Murasames.

Face it...no other grunt suit has destroyed a gundam in such a small ratio as 3 to 1.

The GuAIZ owned Launcher Strike Gundam when it was a one-on-one fight, and would have destroyed it had Freedom not interfere.

But I guess Murasames are alright. Crap design though.

It's a commander-type GuAIZ.

I know that, but why make Sword Daggers and stuff(MSV) if they could just change packs.

I also forgot to add the GOUF. Heine owned Stella good if it wasn't for Freedom.
And Athrun put up a fight against Destiny/Legend.

Commander-type GuAIZ = regular GuAIZ in white. So it doesn't matter. Its not three times faster.

And no, its not the GuAIZ Rau Custom either since other white colored GuAIZ's show up later in the show.

As for Heine's GOUF... That's a prototype... We all know prototypes aren't grunts...

The Destroy Gundam. Such a kickass suit that just happened to be on the side that was nerfed into ZAFT's whipping boy...
