That was so redundant...

And no, when I watch the anime, I won't know, cause I'm not following the novels and that's exactly the reason why I asked/want to know opinions from people with actual kowledge.

Serious and useful answers are welcome AND very appreciated at any time!

But, aside from that, is it overall the "same" or not?
The anime is "following the novels" but in a highly compressed "reader's digest" way - fast even for an anime adaptation. Lets face it, trying to fit 10 novels into 25 episodes is a daunting task. In that respect, they're doing a fairly good job though it colors some of the motivations at various points.

Since the series will end on March 26th, ca. 2 weeks after the novel finished, can we expect the same ending/conclusion for both, novel and anime?
What do you think?

Just curious.
Given what we have seen so far... its a pretty good bet that the novel and anime will sync up all the way to the end. At this point, I'd be surprised in a very unpleasant way if they took a sudden turn away from the novels.

At any rate, the last published novel is a cliff hanger ending so after the christmas arc we'll be spending the last 5 episodes on what builds up to that and the volume 10 revelation. I suspect there will be a very high level of event compression but we'll see if the anime can construct a credible subset of those events on its own.

Whoah toradora was a novel? Or is it a manga? Now im confused of the origins of Tora-Dora, I thought it was one of those anime shows that were made along the way, guess I was wrong=/

Toradora was initially series of light novels (starting 2006). Manga adaptation came later (2007), and finally anime appeared (2008).

Wow? Following close to a novel that hasn't been released? I guess the author must approve with the anime enough to work with it.

I kind of hope it gets licensed and published so I can read it.

Me too. B-T's translations are nice, but the English used is, um, terrible.

Aye, they're translating fairly literally - as opposed to writing it as if a native english writer had created it. I wouldn't mind taking a stab at such a rendition if I weren't fairly occupied otherwise. If it were done in the latter mode, I wouldn't mind that but I'd want an annotated version (rather like the way the Through the Looking Glass books with Alice are often handled).

Since the references are so obscure (and even more obscure to Western readers) a glossary would be nice...

Seeing as how they aren't licensed and light novels aren't exactly huge, it's pretty unlikely.

I'm hedging my bets since it seems Yen Press picked up both the Spice&Wolf novels and manga ... also not exactly a mainstream popular item (not that I'm objecting).

As long as they don't try to do to the Toradora novels what they're doing to the Haruhi novels, I won't care.

Well is that manga adaptation done with the translating? Or is the whole series of the manga adaptation done? I don't think I have ever seen it at a manga viewing site.

Justin Kim, no manga translations are not finished, no manga is not finished too. How can it be finished when the novels are not finished either? And manga is taking a slow pace.

Much slower than anime thus I like it much more. Anime does ok, but they skip through many things that may look minor but in a general picture thay may show much more things about characters thus creating greater depth.

Vexx, you can talk about being picked up only when it is released. Look at ZnT example...

What happened to the manga? Is it on hiatus?

The artist, Zekkyou, is really slow. Volume 1 was released around January 2008, while volume 2 was released just recently. These volumes correspond to volume 1 of the novels, btw.

The amount of pages she does for a monthly chapter is about the same you'd expect from a chapter in a weekly manga. Well at least, that's the impression I've been getting lately. She also takes breaks every now and then (especially when she's participating in a convention).

It's a extremely good adaptation, but I think it'll be cancelled before the artist even gets close to finishing it (or the magazine it's being serialized in will go under).

Some mangakas like it slow, Sadamoto has been off and on with Evangelion manga like almost 11 years.

Not entirely true... its quite ordinary for manga now to be licensed prior to completion and light novels are starting to pick up in the US:
Spice&Wolf (vol 9 novel)(volume 2 manga) is not done --- Yen Press has already licensed it and is starting this fall.
Yotsubato (manga) --- Yen Press acquired the license from now defunct ADV and will continue -- its not done.
There's more I could list....

But it is more likely that Toradora! won't get licensed (anime, manga, or novels) til summer or fall if someone is going to pick it up at all.

Looking at the current state of global economy, I think it will be difficult for licensing.
