Yea I have to agree that Lucy and Cana's fight was rather meh but I never really expected much to start with, that should come later. Altho I was still happy they were bathing suit clad and same with Virgo, oh Virgo how you amuse me greatly

Now Natsu's match up should be interesting, will be it be some full on batttle or will something happen that basically gives Natsu a "free pass"?

Can't wait to see the other match ups, particularly Mira-chans.

Why does the girls have to be wearing small bikinis?. I understand lucy and cana because they were wearing bikinis before, but why virgo and the card girls?.

It ruins the drama of the chapter that one of the 2 teams in the battle are full of girls wearing small bikinis and with proportions that get bigger every chapter.

Also, why fried lose on purpose?.

Cana ability is quite "convenient". So, since it wasn't revealed which cards she has, in a battle she can use a card that can save her and lucy.

Lol Cana & Aquarius. Both voiced by Kitamura Eri in the anime... expect to see some awkwardness in a year when the anime gets caught up to this point.

I think Lissana and Juvia will fight Levy and Gajeel since they're pretty evenly matched (guessing that Lissana isn't a strong combat type) and as a bonus we get some former-phantom drama. I'm guessing Elfman and Evergreen will fight Mirajane just to show how the two siblings measure up to eachother. Gray and Loki are almost certain to fight Erza, since she's been like a senpai to both of them. Mest and Wendy are most likely to take the quiet path as it's been already predicted.

At least imo that's how the matchups make the most sense in terms of the contestants' relations to eachother.

Seriously, I don't remember the last time I saw such epic level of badass in a manga.

Lucy and Cana are indeed the luckiest pair tho

I knew they wouldn't fail. Now to see who will be involved in the other battle. But srsly, I can't wait to see what happens between Gildartz and Natsu now =D

I think it is pretty safe to say that this fight, like many of Lucy's fights, wasn't meant to be dramatic in any way.

ahah, talk about Lucky. I thought it was just a bit too convenient for Aquarius to defeat those two so easily. well, anyway, the next fight seems very promising!

wonder who's gonna be fighting Erza though. Maybe Levy and Gajeel!

Caves are supposed to be Virgo's playground, and she managed to manhandle Byro pretty decently when she's actually expected to fight.

Anywho, Fried kind of grew on me this chapter with his own code of owing a person back. I really enjoyed Cana and Aquarius interactions since both tend to be similar in attitudes. As for the coming Natsu/Gildartz fight, that may be a blessing in disguise. Nastu still needs to hone his dragonslayers magic and Gildartz may be the mage to do it. Since it was recently revealed that Gildartz lost some bodyparts to a dark dragon, it may end up that he may be helping Nastu improve his skills to prepare him for that encounter.
