Appleseed + Ghost in the Shell - What next?

Hi there! This is my first post in the forums. I have a question for all you manga experts out there.

I've read a decent amount of manga, but I absolutely LOVE Appleseed and Ghost in the Shell by Shirow Masamune. I love the science fiction-ness of it, the intricacy of the plots, the details of the world he has created, the detail and mastery of his drawings. I think he draws the best fight scenes EVER in manga/comics - he actually keeps track of how everyone's body is moving, and choreographs the fights very realistically.

Now that you know what I like about these Manga, here's my question:

Can anyone suggest other Manga that compares to this?

Deathnote would be a good suggestion. Tons of sci/fi. the plot changes on you a couple times, and there is a great amount of mystery as well as intricacy on details. only bad part is I don't (not 100% sure) think all 12 copies are out published in the US yet. I think (maybe) its at 9. but still worth taking a look at.

The plot doesn't so much "change" as repeat itself, but it's still pretty enjoyable.
All twelve volumes and the thirteenth "Rulebook" have been released in the R1, though.

Ghost in The Shell (Movie 1)
Ghost in The Shell - Innocence (Movie 2)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ghost in The Shell - Stand Alone Complex 1st GIG (Series 1)
Ghost in The Shell - SAC 2nd GIG (Series 2)
Ghost in The Shell - Solid State Society (Movie 3)

The first two movies are a separate universe compared to the series.
