Brilliant way of ending the season. Full of jokes and pranks we haven't seen in quite some time, such as the classic interaction between Ritsu and Mio, the Yui/Ritsu comedy duo and Mugi's wild imagination.
I also liked the references to the Blu-Ray covers of season 1 and the cameo by the Death Devil girls.

The numbers on the left are the number of viewers while the ones at the buttom is the time. The time for K-ON in Japan is way way midnight...around 1:30 AM. That's where the graph skyrocketed.

The past, present and future K-Oners all in 1 episode. Enough nostalgia for Gramps to break out his Yui yukele (literally a Yui yukele)

There's a "Yui Imagination" scene where I literally burst out laughing.
Yui flew out of nowhere, landed on a cushion and handed over their yearbook to Sawako. Nobody else found that at least a little funny...? In a random sort of way? I guess I was a bit drunk at the time...

For those who are confused as to what all the Blu-Ray/DVD stuff is about...
http://www.tbs.co.jp/anime/k-on/disc/disc_1.html For the reference to the season 1 DVD covers. I'm wondering though if the picture taken that was the 7th DVD cover occurred in the 2nd or the 3rd year of high school in the K-On! storyline? Since it was the final scene in the episode, and they didn't make it clear, I'm not sure if the scene was a flashback or not... Also, Ritsu still didn't explain why that hand was on Yui's shoulders back in episode 3. Guess its just a spur of the moment thing. Last edited by winhlp32; 2010-09-30 at 01:14. |

Awesome episode. *Sigh* I really don't want it to end.
Mugi really blended in with the gang this season, loved how she played up Sawako's illness along with Ritsu. Then, as soon as Mio mentioned the possibility of catching Sawako with her boyfriend, the three girls just ran to the apartment. Yui's line when they were 'arresting' Sawako - 'Your mother's crying!' |

Nice to see some interaction among the 4 girls - Azusa here.
There's just a little bit too much on Azusa towards the end of the series. And watching the movie announcement over and over again, the movie might just a summary of the two seasons. |

Man those girls have stamina, especially Yui. Running from the school gates to the third floor non-stop without breaking a sweat is intense. Make you wonder why they any trouble during the marathon.
But seriously, this episode was win. I liked the little touches KyoAni put in, like Ritsu subtly grinning to the off-screen Mugi before doing the "Sawako's dead" skit. It would also seem that the "Grand Ma" is not actually Yui but one of class 3-2, most likely to be Himeko. It's like every other K-On episode: a good mix of comedy and sentimentality. Also Mio was awesome in this episode. She was totally channeling Maya from Occult Gakuin, the superior Hikasa role. |
