Yes there was. It only censored that scene though.

Most of the main events are here. I saw the same Raw version as the censored one for the first ep so I can't pronounce on the deads but they seems well done.

I just saw episode 2. THEY HAD RAHU GOLDENSLAUGHTERER!!!!!! However....

I was somewhat displeased with how it was presented, but its better than nothing I guess

Looking at the raw, I'm wondering if there was indeed some censoring after all. Sure, there weren't any "shadows cast from nothing," but on closer inspection, there was both red and black blood on the face. You could argue that it's darker because it had time to dry but...

Have a look for yourself:

Pretty nasty. But the blood on the ear is red, while the mangled face.. is not. If you tilt your head up a bit (depending on the type of screen you have, you can almost make out the eye socket.

I turned up the brightness and contrast down:

See what I mean? Seems like there is more to that face than made it to broadcast.

Nice find. Since it only flashed for a while, and it's not exactly recognizable by that time frame, it wasn't censored. You can say the length of the time they showed it was the censor itself.

Indeed. I mean, the face was gruesome enough even if you can't make out the more gritty details. The teeth.......

I was honestly expecting blatant censoring, so I'm quite happy that it appears we'll get the show in all its gory glory. I still wouldn't be surprised if they make stuff in that scene slightly more visible for the DVDs though.

I wasn't that pleased with the first episode (well, actually... xD the pacing was horrible etc etc) but episode two seems to be better, though still, they really are rushing it <_<

I'm thinking somebody should translate the official anime family tree page for the anime-only viewers. It details the relationships of all characters with each other. Also it mentions that Battler is the son of Rudolf and another woman, and Rudolf and Kyrie has a child. Maria's father is also not mentioned.

The tree is still kinda spoilerish, depending really if they don't intend to reveal too much on the issues of Rudolph's family line (which would be a stupid thing to do IMO).

The thing is, you're supposed to know that by the time this aired in the anime. If the official TV site is putting this in their page, then it's a valid info to give. However, the site just indicated the existence of a biological mother and another sibling to Battler, and Maria's father. Where's the spoiler there?

Ummm... it's not a spoiler at all, like previously said, the viewers SHOULD already know that Battler's birth mom was a different woman, Ange is his half younger sister (her name was given by this time in the game, still not a spoiler if I say it), and that Maria's father isn't known. They're told early on in the story.

The online family tree also indicates a missing spot for Asumu and Ange as well, so both are acknowledged. Same for Maria's dad.
