Hell, one of the scientists in the Gagarin level says as much. Like a bunch of monkeys beating a nuke with hammers because they like the sound it makes.

These Spartan IV's strike me as more gung-ho and reckless than their predecessors. It kinda makes sense considering where they hail from, but still you'd expect a little more sense than running out of cover to take on multiple enemies by yourself.

Competence is for Crimson team. Majestic is the special cannon fodder SIV squad that they only keep around in case they need an emergency distraction meat shield.

Heck, I would love to charge out and take on multiple enemies by myself.

The year of 2557 must be the year where the term "No risk, no reward" has replace the scientific method as the primary method of doing research for scientists.

In all seriousness, though, the vast majority of Forerunner technology is human-friendly, given the whole nature of being Reclaimers.

My guess is that the box, given what it did to Glasbern, and the sphere in the Forerunner ruin, are the Librarian's indexes, the devices she used to preserve life from the firing of the Halo Array.

So here's a wild suggestion: Host an Animesuki-only custom games extravaganza?

Maybe, I was joking earlier but still. When encountering the unknown (Yeah, I can't believe I just said something out of E.T.), caution is always advise. Only interact with an object if you have taken every precaution you can think of.

Depends on if anything else in there is hostile and/or immobile or not.

I'm guessing the Ops stuff is on disc 2? I haven't bothered since I only play offline but I could play with my bro here if all I have to do is download the episodes on my silver account.

Yeah multiplayer content is installed from disc 2, and Spartan Ops falls under that.

Well, regardless of whether the artifact's digital contents are safe or not,
Spoiler:

Well he did sorta get digitised as he got "pulled into" the artifact. Just wild guesing here, but it could be a derivative of the Composer. Maybe it was for turning humans into monitors and other ancillas, whereas the Composer was an unfinished tech aimed at turning humans and Forerunners alike into digital forms in order to survive the Flood.

but instead to take digital forms, they end up instead turning into Synthetics

You know, the way Didact spoke on the Terminal that he wanted to make them organic as synthetic to be inmune reminds me too much of Sythesis of ME 3 ending.
