Ayase Haruka confirmed as Riko for Bannou Kanteishi Q's movie. The Mona Lisa case of volume 9, which is the most popular book (ranking from α book 1; book 3 has a similar ranking with 9 on top still), is chosen for the basis of the script. Very smart move of course. So, soooooooooo hyped.

Now just to wait who's going to be casting Karen (please don't axe her scene!!). I'm sooooooooooooooo unbelievably hyped right now (repeating cause it's important). Compare to Biblia this casting's just crazy spectacular. Poster's kinda bad imo as they both look a ton better than that, but I guess they're going for the dorky business look or something (but they're supposed to look like models in the story!). Oh well.

Biblia's director's actually quite competent，I believe it's the same team that handled the Enomoto-series, which was an insanely fun watch (with much better tune-in rate too). It's all Gouriki's fault ...

Ayase Haruka is actually decently well-known, but I think a year of Taiga drama's wearing her out (or at least that's what I was told). She looks quite tired in the one screencap from the movie so far ... either way, that volume's one of my top 2 favorite from the Jikenbo series (just finished book 12 4am today ...), it's kinda hard to screw that up. Interestingly enough, they said Q-chan's currently reader's favorite female character from Kadokawa Bunko but nobody remember when the poll took place .

The director of Q's the same director from Toshokan Sensou's LA, which did ok domestically (I think they expressed an interest in sequel? Might be on wrong this on). The staff said they'll be filming in Paris soon, here's hoping for lots of Louvre scenes.

Supposed to be airing 2014 May or June maybe.

I saw that announcement. It was expected imo since melodrama series like anohana are perfect material for japanese (and in general east asian tv).

Now question is, is it going to have your standard terribad j drama style japanese acting in it. At first glance looks like it is. I had to lol when I saw rl menma and Tsuruko... well... I don't wanna make this sound more harsher than it is but why is the rl version of her so chubby.

Beyond the two live action films already released so far, another Chihayafuru sequel has been announced. Not much info yet ... besides a few announcements, starting during the stage greeting event for the premiere of Chihayafuru: Shimo no Ku, the second film, on April 29, 2016. The example posted below was published in the Be-love magazine issue released on June 1, 2016. Similar text also appeared on the "Obi" for the latest manga volume (32, July 13, 2016) - without additional details.

According to ANN, "Director Norihiro Koizumi announced at the Sanuki Film Festival 2017 event in Kagawa on Sunday", February 12, 2017 that the "Chihayafuru Sequel Live-Action Film Will Take Place 2 Years Later Filming starts this spring for movie showing Chihaya as third-year high school student."

Update April 13, 2017: A casting call has gone out for volunteer extras to take part in on location shooting for the next Live Action film. Filming days in May / June 2017.

Update April 26, 2017: On April 26, 2017 ANN relayed: "Chihayafuru Sequel Film Reveals 4 New Cast Members, 2018 Opening"
Let's put this up front: "Suetsugu has approved the film's script"

This third film will conclude the series and will be titled 「ちはやふる -結び-」 "Chihayafuru Musubi". One of the most interesting aspects of this announcement is the casting of Kaya Kiyohara as Io Wagatsuma [我妻伊織]. Interesting because she will play "Chihaya's film-original rival", signalling Koizumi's further departure from Suetsugu's manga story. How will Io Wagatsuma figure into the settling of the rivalry between Chihaya and Shinobu Wakamiya, and who came up with her name...?

Something to look forward to, as are the performances envisioned for: Mio Yūki as Sumire Hanano, a girl who falls in love with Taichi on first sight, and joins the karuta club; Hayato Sano as Akihiro Tsukuba, a new member of the karuta club and, last but not least, Kento Kaku as Hisashi Suō, one of the game's strongest players ever, and the current holder of the title of meijin.

StarrieNite, in a comment posted in a Live action thread on MAL, pointed out that Suetsugu-sensei has spelled out Wagatsuma's first name as いお, as a pronunciation guide for 伊織. Io instead of Iori.

Test screenings have since taken place, advance tickets have gone on sale with a special karuta set as present; invitations for advance preview screenings have been extended and the website has been updated regularly, including with additional promotional clips; footage also incorporated into NTV's re-broadcast of selected episodes from the animated series. This one was interesting, to me, because Juri Ueno returned to act in the music genre. This time as an adult, in the capacity of HS brass band advisor.

I think, busy sister, Suzu Hirose can handle Hibiki just fine [She did, alongside a convincing Itō-sensei in Toma Ikuta]. Going back a little further in Kazune Kawahara's gift collection. Always worth a revisit. imo. [... and seeing the "Chihayafuru Musubi" trailer on the big screen before the main feature was an added bonus - as was the two page spin-off manga printed in this year's November issue of Betsuma.]

Casting developments for the adaptation of Ai Kozaki's "Asahinagu" manga, about Naginata wielding high school student Asahi Tōjima. In February 2017 ANN reported Asahinagu Sports Manga Gets Stage Play, Film Starring Nogizaka46 Idols and added, in April, Asahinagu Live-Action Film Casts Mai Shiraishi.

The film will have its theatrical release on September 22, 2017.

I've had this feeling for a while now about this adaptation project but the images on the flyer, the scenes in the featured clip and the side by side comparison of these manga covers all confirm it, for me. I don't think the fierceness is in evidence in anything we've been shown so far for this film, but it and a certain uneasy "edginess" are required to do the character of Asahi justice. Maybe she'll reveal herself in the full performance.
