IMO, the rationale of Jinbe joining the crew is to show how much the SHs have developed. I agree with MarvelB that Jinbe is not the best choice for the SHs and there should be another merman who can fill this gap and being less famous than Jinbe (if this is what he meant ). However, looking at the current stage of the SHs, the are a world famous crew of pirates. This was strengthened during the reuniting chapters in SA. Therefore, I think it is not a bad idea to have Jinbe as a crew member because of (1) he seems one of the strongest mermen in OP (if not the strongest) and (2) Luffy needs a merman in his crew who can be reliable.
BTW, I wonder how Madam Shirly will react when she figures out that her prophecy did not occur (yet??).. |

Black Beard did have a point, the new age wasn't for them. Yes, they're still strong and bad ass, but they're old. I think this point was proven with white beard, still strong and kicked a lot of ass, but he was old and part of a dying age. Rest his soul, the man died like a G.

Holy s**t, I knew that One Piece was the most popular manga in Japan, but I never knew that it sold more copies than all of the other popular mangas combined (well, short by 2 million but that's nothing)! Go One Piece !
I sure hope Oda is getting a fair slice, since a lot of artists/writers are getting ripped off by their publishing houses nowadays... By the way, the reason why Sengoku resigned wasn't confirmed AFAIK, I think it's related to the "incident" mentioned in the latest SBS... |

i don't know if I like Jinbei joining...
if he does join then it'll be 2 characters in a row that gave me a weird feeling when they became crew members, brook & jinbei for some reason it's not the same with these two as the rest of the crew when they joined... they seem kinda not be as "close" as the rest of the SHs... I still dislike Brook the most though for some reason...

We know next to nothing about Koala. All we know is that she was a former slave whose whereabouts are currently unknown. How does she make a million times more sense than Jimbei who's had his character fully fleshed out and proven to be a great asset to the SHs?

Brooke's purpose is to reunite with Laboon, but he's going to have to wait a long while until that can happen because the SHs are going to continue venturing into the NW. Sanji's goal is to find All Blue, but we know that isn't happening any time soon. See where I'm getting at with this? The point is, if we go by your assumption that Jimbei's goal is to find Koala, that can take a VERY LONG time since her whereabouts are unknown. Who knows where she is at the moment.

Jimbei can always have someone else from his gang succeed him as the new leader. Problem solved. This scenario is almost no different from Franky at Water 7 when he left his gang (of course with their encouragement and approval).
