It seems to me that Magi simply have some inherent ability to judge people. And they are naturally drawn toward kind people with strong leadership abilities. In other words, even though he's not consciously doing it, he's basically already doing his job. I mean you see how he's interacting with the princess right now. It's the same thing, he pretty much acknowledged her leadership right then and there.

Times like this is what C part is for, which apparently this studio doesn't use.

As in, Feast around the campfire scene -> ED credits -> Baba getting shot and Aladdin waiting for her cliffhanger -> preview & sponsors screen

I just started watching this show. Alibaba's appearance reminds me of Gilgamesh of Type-Moon.

The princess sure has a weak command over her army.

It's kind of expected in these kinds of stories that there would be a subordinate who's far too ambitious for their own good, and who has other ideas on how a campaign should go, ESPECIALLY if their commander is perceived as either too idealistic or weak (meaning easily exploited).

Maybe he can choose the King for Kouga which I assume is a country.

I still see all this as a far future. Just like in Kiba no Tabishounin - the world after our civilization is gone.

Genghis Khan was born in the latter half of 12th century. The actual origin of the story of Aladdin and his lamp is unknown, but was first included as part of the Arabian Nights stories in early 18th century. There are no known written versions of the Aladdin story earlier than the 18th century. The story could have pre-dated Genghis Khan, but it would have had to have been handed down orally for at least six centuries, or more.

The same goes for the story of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. It's first known written version comes the same 18th century publication of the Arabian Nights stories.

Of course, the writers are not necessarily going by known history for their story-telling.

I wonder what old baba was talking about when she mentioned the Great Kouga Empire (now reduced to Kouga clan.)

Pretty cool.

Alternate universe, loosely based on ours.

Yes, Kouga Empire is based on Khan's Mongolian Empire of 12th century.
Kou Empire is post-Three Kingoms China in 4th century or so, there's a 1st~3rd century Ancient Rome, pre-18th century Ainu, and what appears to be post Alexander era Greece, etc, all mixed up. So trying to fit a timeline with ours is completely futile.

The terrific TV ratings for this show make me happy for Ishihara Kaori. I enjoy her voice a lot, and now that she is one of the stars of a show with high ratings, her future in anime -- to say nothing of the musical side of her career -- seems even brighter. Being able to play boy-roles is a help, too.

Until a year or so ago, I thought of her as the junior partner in YuiKaori, beside the younger but more famous Ogura Yui. But her seiyuu talent has brought her to the fore at the age of 19:

She has had 12 roles this year. I first realized how good she was when she emoted so well as Kanna in AnoNatsu. And I thought she was good as Konoe in NakaImo. But her big role was starring as the irrepressible Madoka in two seasons of Rinne no Lagrange. Someone on 2channel referred to her as the "legitimate successor" to Mizuhashi Kaori, because of a degree of similarity in their voices.
