anyway if this is a joke it's the best ever, they even had me falling for it But considering AJ is still up and running it must be a joke OR it's an ellusive plot by AJ to get rid of all other fansubbers so they can get the most leechers PS No need to start formatting yr hard drives and hiding all those CD's yet |

Also, I believe that the Berne Convention has provisions for distributing translations of material where no local translation exists. I'm not sure if that applies here or not. Finally, note that all their torrent trackers still seem to be up and responding to AnimeSuki's queries. If this really WERE a bust, one of the first things the DoJ would've done was shut those down to prevent any further distribution. If this IS real, expect to see domestic anime sales go down the tubes. The boom was really being driven by easily-available digisubs, which let people preview series they'd never even have considered buying before. I've bought three complete series already that I'd never even have glanced at, just because I watched fansubs and liked them, and all the anime fans I know are like me. Cut off our access to fansubs and make it so the only place we can preview anime is what few crappy-ass dubs they decide to show on TV, and our money's going to go towards other stuff. |

Hahaha...
If this is true it's damn funny. If it's false it's still funny! You can't lose! As for A-Keep, weren't they doing Gungrave even though it was quite obviously licensed? You'd have to see if they were hosting materials that had at least one of those companies listed in the credits. This looks like a hoax though, the companies both here and in Japan do tend to be tolerant and will send out a Cease and Desist, or contact the groups directly (cf. AJ vs. Urban Vision) before pursuing them. Oh well, if it's true or not we'll know soon enough. |
