I rarely change my avatar and currently the avatar I have reminds me of myself. I don't know why .

Well, I kinda missed a point the last time. I sometimes make avatars to match my current sig, so that pretty much explains why I put away Fuko this time around

Usually changes avatar about once a month, but this time is an exception

I think it depends on my mood.
If the Avatar gets too old for me or the previous one doesn't look good anymore.

In average I change it once a month.

not often, I try to keep it so people don't get confused. But sometimes when I feel like it, get bored with the current one, I just change it.

Most of other forums I browse don't allow animated avatars so I'm used to static avatars. I don't like animated avatars to begin with.

This far I've been posting here without an avatar, but I decided to use one of my older avatars (this one is about a year old) that I found lying around in my HDD.

I stick at least 6 months with one avatar, usually longer. This is mainly because I'm very picky about what I want as my avatar, I want something that looks good for me, isn't annoyingly distracting and still allows others to easily recognize it.

Personally I think that my avatars are things that represents me. Which leads to my question.

How come most men like to have a bishoujo as their avatar? I don't see how it can reflect your mood or repersent your self when most people remember you as that girl.

Or maybe I'm reading too much into it >_<

It's probably whatever character is their favorite at the moment, which is likely based on which shows they're watching. I had Horo as Avatar and Sig right after I started watching Spice and Wolf. Guys tend to like bishoujo characters better than any other. I never really thought my avatar showed anything about me, just my tastes, I guess?

For the record.... I don't. I prefer not to have confusion about such things. I swear, I have mistaken boys for girls so many times because they use pretty girls in both their avatars AND signature banners....

Well I must say I see what you mean by people changing their avatars. Personally, I've had this avatar for a few years now. I made it myself with a screen shot of Naruto of course haha, who doesn't know that face. I feel somewhat attached to it but I also have another avatar I usually switch to. I go back and forth. I find it fun to change things up a bit every once in a while. An avatar is a reflection of oneself, sometimes, not always, but sometimes. Well, it's how I feel. The people who stick to avatars longer, have a bigger connection to it and therefore it means a lot more to them on a larger scale. Let us call that scale life. And the people who switch their avatars almost every week, have a smaller relation to their chosen avatar. It could be that they feel the need to change it up based on their emotions at the time. Avatars are very VERY tricky little things. I wish I could learn more about them and do larger studies. I just like to think outside the box and still keep my reasoning Haha, well, I hope someone can understand where I'm coming from.

aside from the temporary caramelldansen infection, my current avatar has been with me since i've joined animesuki, almost. in any case, my sole basis of choosing my avatar is because it looks cute, or something like that.

I change my avatar when I feel like it.
Usually though, I like to keep one (same goes for banners) for at least two weeks if possible.
As for what I use, it's usually anime/game guys that I like, or anime girl pictures that I save up.

I sometimes get lured away by another anime (normally some pretty girl that has been chibified), but I always go back to Hina Ichigo with a bottle of beer

Hina Ichigo forever!!!!!

Never. I have the best non-anime avatar on this forum.

Ironically enough, I'm also the only person with a non-anime avatar...

There are a couple more, but I think yours ranks high in that list. It's a little too cute to really clash with the other decor, though. You should be glad you don't have the competition of my regular avatar.

The reason I have an anime avatar is because this is really the only place I can get away with an anime avatar at all--and especially the only place where I can get away with having a female anime character avatar. Oh, and the only place with people that will appreciate or understand when I switch.

My criteria for choosing an avatar can either be cute or cute girl anime character. As far as I remember, the only 3 series I had an avatar of in animesuki are Hayate no Gotoku, Shakugan no Shana, and Bamboo Blade, with the first two the only series I use sig of.

I mostly use Shana avvy and sig, though.
