Okay let's start:

Movie has been released recently in BD/DVD.
Will post a "proper" opinion about it later, but I got extremely pissed off by a drastic change in the plot:

Spoiler for Soraoto movie, end:

-Aphrodite was entirely skipped (Another Nymph power up skip?)
-Hiyori was installed some device that would rip time space in a large area, which would annihilate everything in the blast radius
-Ikaros attempts to sacrifice herself by trapping her and Hiyori in an Aegis field, unable to leave Hiyori alone.
-Tomoki joins them by hang gliding, and gives Hiyori her hair ornament back
-Hiyori regains her consciousness, but it is too late, and she hacks Ikaros a bit so she can leave Aegis field, and flies away after kissing Tomoki.
-*Boom*

I understand that Hiyori barely has a role after her arc, yet I'm really not happy with that change: past the problem with Nymph requiring another event to trigger Aphrodite in the upcoming third season, Hiyori could have been a support character (and heck, it will bring a lot of issue if Minazuki decides to bring her back for a big showdown in the future or something).
The mood itself is more on the bitter side, which is not what we are used with SoraOto, even if Minazuki has the knack at bringing depressing stuff.

Well, one may argue the last scene after the credits may tell otherwise, but frankly it may be as good as a red herring, especially Tomoki's reaction doesn't seem to be that relieved. Well, we might see that in the third season, still an issue for Aphrodite activation.

That's really a shame, because the movie itself has really a polished presentation, with good production value (extremely fluid animations etc).
And the pacing was quite good, with an interesting way to use a "recap", but from a complete different perspective.

I really wonder why AIC always has to screw up things at the end (Nymph being fooled by harpies, Uranus system in season 1, Chaos dragged stuff, more random stuff with Uranus system in season 2). OTZ

Too many unnecessary changes i think.

The good
Hiyori got her own meteor system so she looks a hell lot more powerful than in the manga, just like Ikaros in the anime looks crazy strong with the massive ship Uranus system. I think the anime team are pretty good at designing mecha.
Ikaros seemed true to type for the changed ending
Many holes especially how Tomoki didn't simply catch a lift with one of the angeloids

The bad
Heavy reuse of the tv episodes for much of the first half
Removal of Nymph as the catalyst
Changes to how it ended in the manga
Hiyori's power type gets changed
Astrea still sucks but is still cute
There was no Nymph vs Ikaros competition in pleasuring Tomoki
Nymph wanting Tomoki to do the <redacted> with her was played down
Distinct lack of emphasis of Tomoki's ability to <redacted> Hiyori when everyone just plain <redacted> her compared to the manga
Really could have played up how the winged fella seduced Hiyori into <redacted>
The continuity with the manga is still screwed even though the very last portion after the credits try to link it back.

So Deadalus ex machima will hopefully fix it, the ending scene after the outro does at least hevily imply it.

You can actually do that just for the early part, since they somehow managed to flesh her out even more than the manga.
The huge problem is of course the later part of the movie, which is a kick in the nuts....

Aphrodite reveal was such a film-worthy moment, but I just knew they were going to shaft Nymph again and give Ikaros the spotlight. Why'd they even bother making her transform

And of course, the poignant scene between Tomoki and Hiyori post-battle just had to get cut in favor of a rushed kiss and goodbye. Maybe if the anime team wasn't so concerned with wasting the budget on the flying panties and pushing Ikaros CDs we could have had a decent ending.

Shame the anime team can't just go all Fumoffu for the 3rd season. They've dug themselves far too deep after this debacle.

What Nymph power skip?
I remember seing her use Aphrodite during the Chaos battle.

She never used Aphrodite in the anime at all.
She basically recovered her wings (which was yet another post poned event) and got an anime original ability: Hacking and assist Ikaros and Astraea abilities.

That's not Aphrodite at all, and she did not use anything of that sort in the movie either.

I actually think they meant that to be Aphrodite in the Anime.
I do at least not remember Nymph having a full range hacking field in the Manga, its been a long time since I read those chapters though.
It would basically fit - just that she used it in a different way as in the manga. (hacking Ikarus wings and Astraea's sword+shield)
