Monochrome is likely going to cover floors 3-9, the last floor that was cleared by the beta testers. So if he increases the momentum of the story, SAOP could be much shorter.

Hopefully. He could do what the author of Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon did. Make his books very thick to make the volumes even shorter.

All this means is that it'll take an even longer interval between each book's release.

Don't forget, Horizon's author is focusing solely on one series at a time only.

Well considering that Progressive is basically some of the first 2 floor's sidestories and doujins repackaged for official publication...Only Rondo needs to be fully translated (Even that is 1/4 done apparently)

Aria is fully translated after all.

I've also ran the "Reason for the whiskers" in Microsoft word to compare it to the doujin translation, and it's essentially the same. With very minor edits in word tenses and choices.

So yeah only Rondo is left for Vol. 1 Progressive.

I'm quite surprised that Reki choosed NOT to tell us how Kirito split the rock, but was this some kind of

And also, I have a grave feeling that Argo the Rat isn't going to make it out of SAO alive. Being Kirito, I suspect, is going to be alot of suffering.

Don't worry, Argo is alive and well in 'The Day Before', which happened after they cleared 74th floor, but before Kirito & Asuna moved to the log house on 22nd floor. At that time, Laughing Coffin no longer exists too.

Wasn't the bath scene in Aria as well, which is considered as canon?

I heard a rumour when the anime started that it follows Progressive, can anyone confirm it?

Not exactly. The anime adapted selected current novel stories in chronological order, while Progressive is a re-write of the entire Aincrad arc, also in chronological order.

Either way- whether it's Vanilla or Progressive, he's just using what he had written before while doing some modifications along the way so it shouldn't be too time consuming.

The rock is described to be "one step short of immortal object" that is to say, it probably has an HP bar that can only be decreased through weaponless hits

Basically ragging on about unrequited love of the squires for the most of the plot. mainly focused on Ronie (Kirito's squire) having a unrequited love towards Kirito that will never be realized, because he only has Asuna in his heart. The author really seems to like putting characters through suffering...

Teiza, Eugeo's squire, had fallen for Eugeo but after he died she resolved to never love someone else again, as it was a miracle for her and Ronie to have met those two. Ronie made a similar oath. Another guy (Synthesis Knight #49) had proposed to Teiza however, and he's a good guy; but both him and Teiza knows most of her attraction towards him was because he resembled Eugeo in a way, though he doesn't mind Teiza still loves Eugeo. Teiza's conflicted with her feelings and Ronie couldn't help.
On the other hand, Teiza suggested to Ronie with Kirito's position as the spokesperson of the Human race in Underworld (with maybe even more power than the Emperor), polygamy can apply to him and he can have maybe at least 3-4 wives. So even if as Ronie says with the many people from UW that loves him (by this point includes: a Lady General of the Human army; Alice that left UW but will eventually come back; Solterina Celurute, Kirito's Sempai from back when they're in the Academy; and finally Asuna) Teiza thinks Ronie still have a chance. Ronie seems to not be against it if it does turn out this way, but she doesn't think Kirito will ever have eyes for any woman other than Asuna (and/or Alice; Alice seems to be written as a serious contender for Kirito's love in-universe...).

Onto non-harem/romance stuff, there's another murder mystery plotline. Some organisation is trying to bring UW into a war-torn state once more, back to how the world was designed to create conflict. They killed off a human and pinned it onto Goblin visitors to the city. Additionally, Kirito is planning on breaking/improving the UW system to turn it from a closed 'game' field surrounded by walls into a entire planet. This plan is semi-stalled because of the recent murder and plotting however.

Spoiler for additional comment:

Recon now has a meme in the Chinese SAO fanbase for being the only guy that is interested in one of Kirito's heroines and not die or suffer moral of the story, never try and take the protagonist's girl/s Even if you're a Badass like Eugeo (died because he loved Alice).
