The triggers are overly important because of the game ending too fast. Most battles only last 3-4 rounds. If you get a poor hand after the mulligan, its basically game over.

If you get successful criticals in a row the game can end in 2 rounds. They appear to be the fastest way to victory and makes all others look poor before them. I mean the best defense is offense, right?

So, 16 critical cards in your deck, plus as many of those Amaterasu ability to see the top card and place it at the bottom if you like.

Screw healing and blocking; if you can win in 2 rounds who cares about those?

Intercept is good and not a trigger. Hoard it.

Soul burn is good for all unsuccessful triggers to be offered there.

That ability to go back instead of the monster being overaped is also an easy way to yank a few extra attack without wasting a card on it. Hoard it as well.

This looks so easy to beat...

How about field set up? That affects game play also. Or monster effects. The game is pretty well built, one luck sack concept doesn't really make the game bad, it just makes it in need of improvement.

It seemed like his strategy was winning quickly by just putting the strongest attack of each level in his deck so they were guaranteed to go through or whittle down the hand. The lock down slowed the opponent down so he would have a speed advantage too. This episode was basically "monster effects matter more than raw power."

^ Ok, that was it I guess. So the question now is what more is there for Aichi to show us in later episodes if this is supposed to be his winning strategy. He will enter a tournament where losing is not even an option.

I don't call "hope to God I draw the right card (1 out of 50) at the right time" to be much of a strategy (even if we all know he damn well will). Not unless he palms said card and draws it out of his sleeve or something... Kai, at least, seems to have several paths he can take, depending on which level 3 he gets - and he's probably got enough to be pretty sure he'll be ok on that front.

Oh, well. It could be worse. It could be Saki. Can you imagine it, Saki, but with little boys instead of all that yuri?

Saki is the lame moe version of Akagi. And all card game anime are the lame shounen versions of the first arc of Kaiji XD

And let's not forget Legend of Koizumi.

Hell, why am I still watching this? I should go back to reading my Ka...

Pretty much convinced that Aichi cheats at this point. Only 1 Buster blade and Alfred yet he is able to draw it the first time he uses it.

^ Indeed, the oods of drawing all 3 needed cards in a game that lasts 4 rounds is just... almost like cheating.

Guess who bought a starter deck?

It looks like the Royal Paladin ones are sold out, too.

Blaster blade and Kingstuff are the only unique ones. And technically he (probably) has others he could use.

There was a lot more strategy this time than just "Heart of the cards."

As odd as this sounds, Saki is far less unrealistic than the heart of the cards.

But he only drew 1 needed card. I believe the rest started in his opening hand (and you can mulligan).

There are only 2 needed cards and the odds of getting 1 of them in your opening hand is... exactly 5*1/49 = ~1/10. It's not that rare.

One is 10%. Two is 1%. Three is 0.1%.

Well, I just happened to be heading to Akihabara (on business!), and there's a bushiroad shop actually RIGHT ON THE PLATFORM, which I stopped in, and they were sold out there.
