I was wondering what happened to that. My favorite design made it.

I'll try to spot them next week~

Darn it, my submission wasn't chosen!

Wonder what was wrong with my submission...Can anyone give any constructive advice? Was it too generic compared to the winning ones?

More series should do things like this, getting the audience involved in a positive fashion

In the world of gaming there's already a few examples:
"The world ends with you" did something similar, as well as "Ougon Musou Kyoku", Amplitude Studio is constantly asking for feedback from the community and so on.

Perhaps this trend will become more popular among anime too. From a marketing perspective is quite a nice move, that's a lot a free advertisement, the main obstacle is the legal issue about intellectual properties.

Agreed. I also think this is a great idea. It'll add a lot of color and dynamism to "the extras" making the world seem more real and immersive.

I've heard SaiMoe Japan is about to start. Will the ladies of Gargantia be eligible? (I know they aren't for ISML, unfortunately.)

If they decide to dub this show, what would you think if they somehow got Billy West to play Pinion and use his Zapp Brannigan voice? (Yeah, I know Billy West doesn't usually do anime; just speculating.)

OK figures really, considering the competition. The Index movie owns it with over 35k copies sold.

Still, even Titan vol.2 sold over 28k copies last week...

It's around what I expected. Gen's name alone is probably good for 5K or more, unless some Kokoro Connect-level controversy sinks the project or the show is simply terribad, and neither of those two applied to Gargantia. However, for an anime original to get over 10 K, it usually needs to get a bigger and stronger reception than what Gargantia received.

Ova

So... nothing particularly special about this OVA, mostly just a flashback of Ridget's younger days as Gargantia discovers an abandoned fleet floating about.

A good little slice-of-life, that was it.

No this takes place sometime shortly after Ledo got aboard, when the commodore (Ferlock? Ferrock?) was still alive.
