If this was a chapter 228 thread you'd be absolutely right (who goes to a thread about a chapter and expects not to be spoiled after all?) but since this is an open manga thread, its polite to spoiler theories about chapters that haven't been translated yet.

Personally, I think the current fight is either going to end soon or has ended in this chapter (with Negi chasing after Fate when he and Yue cross) paths. Two reasons why I say this:

1. Remember, this is only the first day of a seven or eight day festival. Hence, it's not like everything involving Fate will have to be wrapped up in a day.

2. In his current situation, Fate will most likely need to retreat. After all, Nodoka now knows his real name (and his plans for the festival), and with four fighters there to protect them (and Konoka to heal them in case Fate petrifies them like he did to Kotarou), it will be hard for him to take out a kawaii Honya-chan this time around.

man fate is one annoying kid, always running off. one thing i'm diggin is that negi's team really do get injured and well aren't the strongest. that's what makes things interesting.

question ... since Nodoka's artifact got a hit from the pertification spell ... that does that mean ... is it just unuseable till next time she'll summon it or?

Thats a good question. It may become damaged for a while until fixed or something. Or perhaps its nothing to worry about.

Hata of AS stressed out that she could possibly a fake Asuna...or a real one who has been installed with a 'tracker', memory switched, controlled, etc. Asuna being a fake is still debateable, but there are insinuation that will partially support the above claims of his.

Long story short: this is most likely a plot device just to hold off the final showdown with Fate until the final day of the festival.

Seriously, it is unknown whether or not Nodoka can fix the book just by de-summoning it. However, I can tell you that she can do that, she's going to hold off doing so for a while, because all the information that was recorded before it was turned to stone (which will most likely include Fate's evil plan) have been preserved (and possibly readable). Given how Nodoka can't tell Negi the information just yet due to them separating in order to avoid getting arrested, she'll probably need to wait until the next time the group meets up to inform them about Fate's plan (and then see if she can fix her book by de-summoning it).

Exactly, we don't have much information on either characters. The only thing we really know about Fate is his real name, possible origin (side opposing Nagi's group) and some other minor information.

Even though Rakan mentioned that Fate is probably a member of the opposing side, who knows if Rakan's information was 100% valid at that moment? Negi didn't pay him, after all... I refuse to back down on my opinion until there's cold hard proof from the author that the boy in Nagi's group isn't Fate.

Rakan saying that Fate is familiar makes things even more suspicious.

As for Asuna being a fake, that's not completely unbelievable.

But they're within range of each other, enough so that they could communicate through card. Unless security is actually monitoring all forms of communication within the city now that they know Negi and company are present.

Also, we really don't know how much Nodoka was able to record. At the time Fate attacked her, what we did see was him ranting about how he hates his name and how he'd rather not get Real World people involved.
