I'll translate it on Thursday. But it doesn't talk about cancellation, just the delay of new info (it says Yeti won't publicize, not publish.)

New announcement on the homepage.

Apparently, they're back to work on the game, but the game will be delayed slightly, it'll be a little while before the site is back to normal, and the next annoucement is scheduled for sometime in July. They also mention something about voice actors at the end.

EDIT: Sorry, I was wrong about the voice actors. I mistook the kanji for "voice actor" with the kanji for "support".

Excellent news! They probably had to tinker with the script a bit but at least it's not dropped.

Here's the translated statement from their homepage

Quote:
Thank you for the patronage you have shown our work in the past.
Our hearts go out to all of you who may have been hurt in some way by the earthquake disaster

The subject of this message concerns that, as the result of various public circumstances, we have heeded to publicly release information regarding Root Double.
We've received a great number of questions from players concerning the state of our work.
We want to think of this message serves as both a status update and a report on our objectives.
Presently, the work has resumed development.
However, the continuation of the work does not equal the release of this work. We will make a judgement at the end based on current affairs.
We need to think about this carefully.
Our current plan is to have our next annoucement made at the end of July on the homepage.
We apologize to all of you who have been enquiring about this, but please grant us a little more time.
Thank you for all the support you have shown our companies all this time.

- Yeti Production Manager Yuuichi Tamura
- Regista Producer Takumi Nakazawa
Well, that's good to hear, but it seems we're not out of the woods yet.

Not really what I wanted to hear. I hope it'll get released even if Yeti doesn't want to release it.

Nakazawa posted another message on his blog.

Apparently, he explains that following the announcement on Saturday, he was surprised by just how many comments he saw about it on blogs, Twitter, and forums, as well as e-mails, all of them sending support to him. As a result, he's become more determined than ever to complete this game, and vows not to let the game go to waste (though he still points out that the situation right now is very delicate). He then thanks the fans for their support and understanding.

According to Nakazawa's Twitter, the announcement is scheduled for the 29th.

Keep your fingers crossed for good news.

The annoucement will be made at midnight, Japanese time. In other words, in about three hours and thirty seven minutes.

Hurray!

(Seriously, I need to learn Japanese and get an XBox 360...I want to play this game, but it'll take ages for it to be ported and translated, unfortunately...)

Well, it should be noted that the official annoucement is that it's "Officially resuming development on the assumption it will be released". So I guess they're still keeping in mind that something could happen.

More information.

- The game will be for the Xbox 360.

- More information to be released on August 5th

http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/201...le_resurfaces/

Is anyone else having trouble getting into the main site, by the way? For some reason, it hasn't been working for me, all I see is the previous annoucement.

Also, here's a shot of the main site (I had to get it off somewhere else):

Reminds me of the infinite staircase from I/O, or the stairway up in the clock tower of SPHIA.

Root Double merchandise will go on sale at the next Comiket, such as:

Cushions: http://www.yetigame.jp/w/comi80/001.html

Bags: http://www.yetigame.jp/w/comi80/003.html

Cans (which I can't get a picture of).

They're also selling merchandise for a game called "Secret Game: Killer Queen". Never heard of it before.

Secret Game: Killer Queen if I'm not mistaken is a remake of the doujin VN killer queen. I remembered that it was the game published by Regista after they released I/O.

You're kidding, right? Killer Queen is one of the most well-known doujin VNs out there, and Secret Game is its remake.

13 people are locked inside an abandoned building, none of them remember how they got there. Each has a PDA representing a playing card from A to K and a collar device locked around their necks. Each of the 13 PDAs correspond to a different set of objectives ranging from simply surviving to eliminating everyone else. If a player fails to fulfill their PDA's objective within 72 hours or breaks any of the game's rules, their collar will activate and they will die.

The original game has a translation project on TLWiki, but it seems the translation is so terrible nobody is willing to TLC or edit it, and the translator seems to have abandoned the project after retranslating the first script file (probably because he realized he would have to retranslate the entire thing).

Huh, that sounds a lot like 999. Wait... (looks up dates). Well, just lost a little more respect for Uchikoshi, now that it seems like he got the idea for 999 from Killer Queen. Still, that game sounds really interesting. I'll consider playing it myself (the Secret Game version, not the original).
