Question Problem downloading Virtual Dub.

I downloaded Virtual Dub on to my computer. I'm trying to open it but I can't. Apparently, the computer can't read it.

The file name is "VirtualDub-1.5.10-src.zip.bz2".
I know I got to unzip it.

How do I open it?
What programs(free) do you open it with?

Please help me. I appreciate it.

You downloaded the source code. That's probably not useful to you at all. I think you want the file at http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/v...0.zip?download instead.

Thanks for the help.

So now I'm stuck in another dillema...

Virtual dub won't let me open a video file, saying that it can't find some sort of decompressor?

You need Video for Window codecs, instead of the DirectShow codecs you would normally use. This usually involves installing actual codecs, like XviD or DivX codec, instead of relying on ffdshow.

Thanks,

Okay, I've downloaded the latest version of Divx., the 3.56 version. Its now installed......

What steps should I pursue from this point?

(edit)

Sorry, the 3.56 version must be a source code.

I recently downloaded the right one, the 5.1.1 Dvx free edition.

Everything is working correctly now...... Thanks a lot for the help.
