Just watched the movie...I loved the first two thirds of it. Probably some of the best fiction I've ever experienced, to say nothing of the artwork. However, I was disappointed with the final third, and not because it didn't have the storybook ending but because it seemed very rushed and left the viewer hanging, if anyone gets that. I don't know. However, it was a great watch overall. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes anime.

Just watched the movie in HD. The most beutiful-looking movie I have ever seen actually. The story itself was very nice in my opinion too, and I loved part 1 and part 2. Part 3 felt very rushed however. I hoped for it to be longer, but then it just ended. :'(

Great movie however. One of the best I have ever seen, but then I'm a faggot for great-looking, handcolored movies too.

Figured I'd just drop in to say that the ￥8,050 for the collector's edition were the best I ever spent. I've loved Shinkai's works ever since Hoshi no Koe received some publicity, and 5cm is just yet another step onwards into the absolute fandom of my de facto favourite director.

Beauty divine, no less.

I can't seem to find a source but various JP blogs are saying the novel is due in November. The Japanese Wiki's been updated with this info too. In time for Christmas then!

Yes, all three parts of the movie have been out for a while now. No, I didn't torrent it. Watched it on streaming video, from you know where (no, not You; there are others with better quality).

Yes, it's a special music video that can be found on the LE package's bonus disc. It uses the full version of the theme song "One more time, One more chance" and contains scenes not seen in the movie.

That's the one. Most of the new scenes are just scenery anyway apart from the one where you see Kanae tapping on her phone.

wow... i just finished b5cm... all i can say is that it hurt like hell... love really stinks... through college and now ive come to the conclusion that love might not really exist in how we believe that there is one person for everyone. in reality i think that we just have to find someone that we are compatible with and can live with. it all comes down to compromise.

Spoiler for responses: (1) There had been a huge long discussion about who stopped writing first, and many viewers concluded that it was Akari who stopped first. I'm also inclined to believe the same. I don't think that this reflects badly on Akari however. It's just that she realised sooner that they no longer had a real relationship. (2) As for why they didn't call each other...it's not entirely certain that they had each other's phone numbers. The only thing we do know for certain is that they knew each other's mailing address. They may not have exchanged phone numbers during their correspondence. That's how I'd rationalise it. But if you ask me directly, I think it's just plain ol' dramatic license on Shinkai's part. (3) Akari was most certainly married by the time she "met" Takaki again at the railroad crossing. She mentioned that the wedding had been set for February 2008. It was around March by the time of the railroad crossing. (4) The ending was, in my opinion, rushed. If this were a live-action movie, I would feel cheated. That said, the AMV did help to sum things up quite nicely, and "One More Time, One More Chance" is such a beautiful song that it more than made up for the weaknesses. Yup, I was hooked to that song for a good two weeks or so after first hearing it and it's still near the top of my playing list. (5) I'm not so sure about calling Takaki a failure. He didn't quite fail the same way a similar male protagonist failed in KGNE, for example. To be sure, the feelings and the relationship, as portrayed in this movie, are completely unrealistic in real life. I can't imagine any guy in real life who would pine for a long-lost love for over 10 years. But then again, this is the stuff of great drama. So, it's one of those things where you have to suspend disbelief a little bit to enjoy the story in its entirety.

And that at one time they had exchanged calls however over time as they lost contact he began to send messages to nobody xD
