Hate to do this, but I'm not finding anything in the quick search.
Does anyone know how to unlock the last tip? The Golden Butterfly Brouche (the name is off memory, don't have the game here with me). The option is there, but unselectable.

Was that mention in the game? I don't recall...

Berkenstal talks about Rule X and Y in the booklet, but Rule Z still remains a mystery.

It's certainly true that if magic was the cause, there would not only be quite a short story, but also unlimited possibility for the murders (they could never escape, unless there's a loophole). =/ It's sort of an impossible situation for them, in that case...

Although, I do agree that the witches probably exist in some form or other, as they've been appearing so much (even if it's just in Hanyuu-form). If that's the case, I wonder whether illusion-world Kumasawa transforming into Walgiria has anything to do with it (much as human-world Kumasawa was dead, I think... could be a red herring?).

The locked-room thing just sounds confusing. ._.; Red text, too...

(... I never was good at these sorts of puzzles...).

We must also remember that the things we see may or may not be true.

We can only believe what Battler sees.

Everyone else may be false.

Just because it seems impossible it doesn't neccesarily mean it is.

eg. Looking at the deaths of Eva and Hideyoshi in ep1, we were given a situation of a "perfect" locked room. However that may be true, we don't now exactly when the door was chained at all.

Infact there's a large piece of unaccounted for time (The ending of the scene to the beginning of the discovery). There's also no proof that the death was caused by the stakes, infact because of the difficulty using it as a weapon, it was most likely used to cover the fatal wound (A gunshot perhaps) Nanjo did not take the stake out in fear that it would distrupt the police investigation.

Then you may ask "What about a sound?" Sound could be dealt with by silencers.

Then what about gunpowder marks? No one noticed them!

Precisely, no one noticed them, they were too busy with the stake on their foreheads to bother looking for any evidence. They spend alot of time trying to cover these deaths from one another.

But what about the magic stuff on the door and wall? This one is more difficult, but the thing is that there could be several reasons. We know that Kannon and Kumasawa weren't there. It's assumed that Genji went back to get Natsuhi.

At first glance Genji would have no alibi, once again unfortunately time isn't given to us, if it has this would be much easier.

The "paint" could be quite awkward, there is endless possibilities Ryu coulda thought up.

An addition to the rules: No one is safe from DBB (Death Before Beckoning). There has been the theories of the constant survival of the Children always, that's clearly untrue. Also people whom are named for the 3 treasures passed out consequently suffer from DBB.

An exception was that of Rosa and Maria at the end of ep2, but we're not even sure of when that was happening, or if it could be called before the beckoning.

There's alot of small things that could help our cause substantially, but we are barred from the essential knowledge.

Also when looking at red text, just because it isn't red doesn't mean it isn't true. It may sound illogical and it is, but its so that the story doesn't become too easy.

Well that seems better
at least he doesn't torture Battler the way the stakes did XD
Read someone's preview regarding on the beginning of EP3
How the stakes were torturing Battler seems awful, and hopefully the siestas will bring an end to this

Just noticed:

Spoiler for Siestas:
It was pretty bad how the Stakes treated Battler but when he calls them "Ass nee-chans" it makes it all the better.

Lol I gotta add that Tsukkomi to my collection Sterling

Did Battler call them that? In Ass like Butt or Ass just in short for Asmodeus?
Why did he call them that? Is he looking for another beat-up? =_=|||

I still remembered when we were discussing Umineko in our school's anime club
Me: "Don't know what it is, but MANCHESTER seems to be more powerful than AK to me..."
Everyone turned and looked
A: "Manchester!?"
Oops...

I just finished this episode and noticed one thing which i have already been waiting for since episode 1.

Near the end, when Eva Beatrice begins her red spam, she states that the murders have not been done by a human and then adds that they also have not been done, which could be possible, by an animal, for example an orangutan.

And this is finally the reference to Poe's "Murders in the Rue Morgue", which is basically the first locked-room murder-story that also heavily influenced everything that followed.

Considering how much Umineko borrows from this genre, it was only a matter of time until this reference occurred.

But that's just a minor side note.

How does Hideyoshi die in ep3? I wonder why Eva would kill him of all people. What about George?

Lol, my friend totally hate me now...
He was telling a ghost story to the class, and I was laughing
The teacher asked why I laugh, I explained that it's totally do-able using the Devil's Prove and Shredwinger's cat theory, also some chessboard-inversion
Everyone agreed with me, thanks to Umineko
But now my friend hated me =(
