Do note that the OP has changed a bit. The part with "Blue Eyes" (gold headdress+sword girl), in particular. As expected, more signs that she's Ange's opponent/rival pilot. Here's hoping for some befriending and more. I don't really Tusk for Ange. Then again, hoping for Ange x girl is kinda unrealistic after all the bullying, and ep1 in particular. Goggles, I need some yuri goggles...

I mean this is probably the most fanservicey anime I've ever seen from Sunrise. Not that they don't do that sort of thing but I can't ever recall a show they've done where it feels like it's main attraction and this is the studio that came up with shows like Dirty Pair, The Girl Who Leapt Through Space and Mai Hime.

I was referring more to a combination of things, for example the main site splash page image is devoid of males, and while it's standard to add characters as they arrive, he's dropped in with the royal family

More than saying that there are not straight girls, its better to say that there are no girl that would have problems having 'fun' with another in the heat of the moment.

I actually really enjoyed this show as well.

Partly because of the yuri-undertoned. But also because it has some plots (and PLOTS) with decent pacing and character development. In contrast to, as i couldn't stand Senran Kagura, Akuma no Riddle , Musou Hime or even Strike Witch for example.

PS: as long as as that Tusk can stay away from Ange!!

Ange will lose her dickish side at some point though. Just look at her happy expression in the OP when they fly as the squad. She beams as she looks in the direction the comrades flying around her. I'll still enjoy her current attitude while it lasts.

By the way... I wonder when the fast-forward sequence from the beginning of Ep1 takes place. Ange isn't singing yet, but in that sequence, she isn't completely integrated into the squad and at the end of her character development, either. I thought the song would be a way for her to deal with the stress and pressure, but...

I admit there's a problem with the word. Perhaps a better term would be "maincharactersexual", since all their attraction to the opposite sex is aimed solely at the cardboard main character, the more boring the better.

Okay, now I have a legit complaint: Not enough action in this series. For an anime that promised mechs fighting dragons we're getting very little of that. Plus this is Fukada that is at the helm for pete sake, the same guy that did the Cosmic Era Gundam timeline and friggin Gear Fighter Dendoh. Too much talking for what is supposed to be an action oriented story. Anyway, I like how everyone is calling this series bad and Ange being a terrible human while this episode flips the tables on both notions. Quite well done.

They picked up some elements from the last episodes, but no important, new developments. Let's hope they don't waste too much time before starting on the big conflict to define the rest of the show... Next week's episode, "Salia's Melancholy"... might give a second glimpse?
