Well it's either Sakura Kyoko, just not official art, thus looks slightly different than normal, or it's the only other girl with red hair who wear the pony tail/ribbon like she does who I could find; Corticarte Apa Lagranges from Shinkyoku Soukai Polyphonica.[Haven't seen the series found the character using danbooru tags ]

Hey guys I'm trying to remember the name of an anime.

I never actually watched it but I remember reading about it and it's been bugging me all day.

From what I remember about the plot, a group of students are on an excursion aboard a certain satellite/space station which is taken over by terrorists and the students attempt to fight back.

A bit vague I know but it's all I've got! It wasn't that old either, probably from the last five years.

Could it be Infinite Ryvius? It's from 2000 though...

It is an rather old Manga from the 90s I think, I have read only the first few chapters back then. It starts with a young guy speaking about his space vessel which he build on his own. Then he tries his vessel out and manages to fly to space, which is his luck because some fiend destroys the whole life on earth, right after he is in space. Then he negotiates with this fiend that if he manages to rebuild human civilization in the time of one year I think that the fiend has to leave earth alone. The fiend agrees bemused by this futile effort and flies away. Then the protagonist flies to Mars to search for help and resources.

His vessel had a rather unique design with many weapons in front which was lampshaded by one character because it throws the vessel of balance.

Hope this is enough information to find out, this has bugged me for a long time now.

It should not be the masterpiece Infinite Ryvius as suggested earlier, but the crappy Soul Link. It's from 2006, so 5 years old now.

You sure they're not all from same anime? The animation looks if not exactly, at least almost identical in all three par the object changing so I doubt they would be from different series.

Well, I didn't find the exact source, but in Durarara!! wiki, in Shizuo's page reads as trivia info:

Shizuo has a tendency to break what ever he is holding when he loses his temper. In the present storyline, Shizuo becomes enraged and usually breaks his cigarette in half and then steps it out, while in his childhood, he is seen doing the same thing to a lollipop, pencil, and plastic spoon.

So we can assume that all 3 animations really are from Durarara and that all hands belong to Shizuo
