My previous post was aimed at only what people type...but so far i haven't heard anyone mix japanese into the english language...at least not that i know of...dbz is having a big impact on the little Highschool students in my area...and i'm getting worried taht most of them are getting into anime for all the wrong reasons -_- and sooner or later i'm gonna start seeing/hearing little kids speaking japanese and not know what they're saying
When i speak i sometimes start off speaking english but then right in the middle i'll end up speaking portuguese, but this is only for people that speak both languages as well...meaning i would never just go ahead and speak portuguese to another english only speaking person...so i would probably get extremely annoyed if someone just started speaking japanese or any other language to me when i don't understand them Quote:
and i don't think the term noob is all that bad...there are good ones...and bad ones...The good noobs make sure to read the rules and/or just spectate before actually becoming active so they come in with at least some knowledge...while the bad ones just come in and do what they please...and it's the bad ones that make the good ones look bad... Oh, that reminds me...speaking of people talking and not knowing what the hell they saying and/or just speaking/writing japanese cause it's cool reminded me of stupid ass people putting decals on their cars of japanese writing (sorry if i don't know the term...i'm not really interested in learning japanese so i don't know all that much) and around me it was very common that everyone did that...they would just get random phrases and just stick it on their car and for all they know some badass guy picked "princess" and just stuck it on there cause it's "cool" |

I do use japanese phrases from time to time. But I do not see the point of mixing languages in one sentance. Of course about the only time I do this is with people I know will understand the meaning of what I am saying, or people that I know will not when I am insulting them
But I normaly use sisikan for insults though as even fewer people undestand blackfoot than japanese |

One question: Is the おばけアメリカンのだ、日本語わかれない part of the poll meant to be a part of the joke? The reason why I am asking is because the Japanese is horrendously wrong, so I don't know if that was meant to be on purpose.
おばけアメリカンのだ、日本語わかれない reads something like: "American Ghost, I won't break up with Japanese (lanugage)." I assume you mean "I am a stupid American and I don't understand Japanese." *(too harsh, either way) The correct Japanese would be: 私は日本語が分からないアメリカ人です For purposes of not offending anyone, the Japanese has been "tidied up" so it reads in a less harsh tone: "I am an American and I do not understand Japanese." |

well.. whenever i'm with my japanese friends, we do say things like osu or itadakimasu..
as a mockery to the sudden craze in words like BAKA and SUSHI BENTO, we have created the Sushi no Baka

true. true. the examples you set were somewhat annoying. Yet I woudn't mind seeing some Japanese throws into the conversation. I see no big offence/impact in Speech. I use Kawaii~/ baka/ etc. alot. simply b/c I found it suitable for that injection in sentence. not b/c itz cool to plug it in for any reasons.
ex. in the rate your sig thread. I replied: wow~~ KAWAII~~~~ compared to-- wow~~ CUTE~~~~ you see the difference? just some of my POV on this |

Heh.. ^_^;; I've actually heard people say "lawl" out loud IRL.. I always find it really funny. I'm not really bothered or annoyed by it.. But maybe that's because the people who use it don't do it seriously.
As for the Japanese speaking.. I know I might have sounded a little too defensive in my last post. .. I just want to say that there's a huge difference between someone pretending to be Japanese and someone just liking the Japanese language or using certain words.. I mean, it's not because you use Japanese words that you want to learn Japanese, and it doesn't mean you're trying to sound cool either. But it's true that, when it was still a trendy thing to do, people would speak Japanese and use Japanese words to show off. I don't think it's really trendy anymore since a lot of people are completely annoyed by it.. It's becoming trendier to bash it. [ Just like DBZ! :O heh ] |

It can get irritating....
What's interesting is when people talk how they talk online... kinda like LOL= Lawl. I was talking to someone and they were explaining how they were grossed out by something and she said, "I was just staring at him when he did that and I was like 'twitch-twitch'...." She said 'twitch-twitch'.... You see, the problem I have with that is the person doesn't seem to grasp the advantage of speaking to someone in person, where you can actually twitch. I dunno, maybe it's just me. I just think that body language should just be body language and not verbally done. Like some one saying "LOL". Why don't they just laugh out loud? |

ghost + American + no da! + Japanese + what I thought was "I don't understand" and hoped for the best. I wasn't trying to be coherent, if that's what you're asking. Quote:
Actually, on that forum you can pay $10 to have your registration date changed to 9/11/2001, so he probably just wanted to throw out 10 bucks.

This is gonna sound really jerk-ish, but...
If you're gonna speak Japanese around me, you'd better be prepared to actually SPEAK Japanese. Saying "That's so kawaii!" or "You baka!" それはちょっとstupidだと思いますね。 So you wanna learn Japanese? For those wondering about my own Japanese level, I'm not too talented (somewhere between a 2 and a 3 on the JLPT according to my teachers). |

its annoying when they use japanese without really understanding wat it means... it also annoys me when their pronounciation is so bad i have to think about what language they're speaking, but they say those little words so arrogantly.
a clear example: (excuse my romanji in this) this kid next to me in comp sci class yells out japanese words from time to time. First few times i thought he was yelling in jibberish. Until i heard him say "arigato" and "kisoyaro", i also noticed he had put up an anime wallpaper. later on the teacher told him to do something (forgot wat) to which he replied loudly "daijovu" correct me if im wrong... but that means "im ok" or "are you ok?" or "it's ok" etc. Just to test him i asked, "wat does that mean?" to which he replied "damn it!" i dont think "daijovu" can ever mean "damn it" or "shit!" or any expression of disapproval or anger. Am i wrong? one of my friend actually knows the meaning of the words, but his pronounciation and tone is horrible. This doesnt annoy me. Since i can tell it's japanese... but i can say that he sounds pretty stupid. i only say things like katana, sushi, karaoke, and other words that is now part of the english language... or at least it's widely used. btw: can someone tell me the exact meaning of "ashigaru" in one pc games they are heavy infantry, but in another game they're musketmen. Im curious about it. |
