Damnit, I was putting off playing episode 3 until the full patch was out, but I got bored. Hurry up, it's getting good

And make a note somewhere about that music thing. I played through all 2.5 episodes like that without knowing it

I am pleased to announce that Ryuukishi07 has responded to our e-mails and that he does indeed support our translation.

Edit: I had hoped that this would be clear from reading the contents of the e-mail, but it seems that some people have misunderstood. While Ryuukishi07 is encouraging us to continue translating, this group and our patch have no official relationship with 07th-expansion.

Here is a translated copy of his response. Very, very minor spoilers for Episode 4.

Moved from music thread

This isnt so related to the music from ep4 but... I need help ( related to the music of course)

When I install umineko, even if i have vista and japanese fonts installed, even if I place the computer in japanese or place that im in japan, when installing the game the installer freezes when comes a file with a japanese name, of course I change the name of all the files and I can play with the patch perfectly but the songs that I changed their name dont play.... what do I do?

By the way, Im an addict of the siestas song from Ep3 !

I am happy for you guys! To think that a reference in Umineko EP4 was actually credited to the witch hunt translation team.

Keep up the good work! We've got Ryukishi-san's support now.

Wow, I'm astounded at that email.

Good, NO, GREAT job guys.

It's amazing how Ryukishi actually found the website on his own, and made a reference in the actual game.

...didn't you make that website a couple of days before Ep 4 was released?

Wow...I'm happy for you guys! To think that Ryukishi07 would send an email to Witch Hunt...I'm suprised he could read english, though.

Oh wait...You probably wrote in Japanese to him...Duh.

Yes, we also wrote to them back in early September (in Japanese), but he said that they were too busy making EP4 at the time to respond.

Ah. Makes sense. On a side note, I can't wait for the Ep. 4 patch to be released.

your "of course" is scaring me. Actually, you should not, by any means, edit any file name, otherwise, the script will fail to play them.
If your installer got all glitchy, just copy the files directly from the CD to the installation folder (as the game CD doesn't have a modified structure compared to the installed game).
You must be sure that all of the file names are either in english or in japanese (original name only), no gibberish allowed (and be sure the size of your installed game is roughly the same from the CD itself).

I've just woke up like any shitty days, especially with an exam this morning and...
I see this.

I mean... MORALE BOOSTER MAX anyone? Honestly, both chrono and myself were like "huh... is THAT a coincidence" from that ep4 segment, and now this confirmation with a full letter of appreciation.
Honestly, that is really one of the best news we could get... time to go on with a blast.

Well you mean officially awesome and approved by Ryuukishi07 himself

Now this is what I call the best morale boost that can ever be given to a team of fan translators. Simply amazing that he replied not to mention allowing the honor to witch hunt for having their name used.

Haha, who thinks the rest of Ep.3 is gonna come a little sooner than expected?

Awesome work guys, you truly deserve Ryuukishi07-san's praise. Can't wait to read the Grimoire doc for the Witch Hunter reference.
