Our narrator's deadpan commentary wins over my heart yet again.
And really. Some things are just better off forgotten in the bowels of human history. It makes so much more sense now. Will this trend mark the end of humanity as we know it?

You know it just hit me that we don't know the main heroine's name yet. I guess the show was so entertaining that I never bothered thinking about till this episode. Now that I think about, do we even know any of the other characters name's besides Y?
Of all the things to revive, they revived boys love manga. The number of rotten maidens in that world is staggering. I never get tired of this expression she makes everytime. This is how I felt while watching this episode.

And in one episode the show manages to make real it's fictionalized perspective of the spread of Fujoshi culture. Bloody brilliant and hilarious.
Also, as usual, Nakahara Mai is <3. Nakahara Mai + Sawashiro Miyuki = Comedy Gold.

Either way, I don't think it could help her get out of the Manga anyway. |

So are the light novels made up of a bunch of mini stories? That would make sense with the little we've seen so far.
I wonder if each two episode will contain a new story. Unless there is a longer story that will require more than 2 episodes.

I don't know that Y should be thought of as a proper name though. In answer to your question, no one has been given a name yet. They've all been called by job title (like Assistant) or impersonal form of address (like Grandpa).

End of the World Party 03 - Adroit in a Sea of Nerds
The "Y" stands for "Yumeria", and while Mai may have been narrating, I find myself siding with Yumeria this week. Her attitude towards human culture may not be much, but her attitude towards nerdiness is downright admirable. Sure, it's yaoi, but it could've been anything. Yuri, mecha, magical girl, harem, slice of life, horror, tragedy, comedy, Kumeta, Okada, Akamatsu, Urobuchi or etc. The point is that she brought manga back, brought Comiket back, and raised the flags that their world may in fact be the Japan of the future. Turning delusions into power, that's the skill of a manga creator! I loved this episode. Sure, it was mocking the manga industry, but they say you can't mock something if you don't love it, and I did sense quite a bit of love here too. That, and a character being voiced by Sawashiro who was interested in old books called to mind Dantalian, which is always a good thing in my book. And while being trapped inside a rough draft might not appear good, I don't see it as something inescapable. The charm of the graphic arts is that anything can happen, if you just imagine it. I'm sure Mai has that spark of imagination somewhere within her. |

You got it a little wrong there... it was not mocking the manga industry, rather critically commenting on the self-published derivative works (doujinshi) and more so its female fans of yaoi (fujoshi).

A whole episode about the rebirth of manga using yaoi?
Was amusing as I thought the first manga was going to be about romance about a guy and a girl, I should of taken the hint when the people who was reading as the MC went pass was all female. And now they got manzine... what does the guys get? Found it very interesting how they treated our modern stuff like lost techonology, shame the MC conversation about the printer age was shot down by Y.
