and Tabane love game....

Tabane is the game-master while the main characters are just players of her game.


Should I go for Fantasy stuff or Sci-fi? Sci-fi as in their avatar is the same as the original verse while Fantasy, their avatar are literally...fantasy RPG characters....

========== Back at Training Hall Seven’s arena ==========

A few blast marks litter around the arena as beam fire from Cecilia’s Starlight rifle misses Tsurugi and strikes the ground and walls around the arena.

‘How is she so nimble all of a sudden…? There’s no way Inami could’ve trained her to be so responsive in a unit that he himself can’t pilot! Let alone the fact that they’ve only trained for days!’

Tsurugi, on the other hand, strafes from side to side to avoid the incoming rifle shots while occasionally blocking some with her Uchigane’s katana.

‘Fighting against guns is all too similar to going up against swords… Only difference is the distance between me and my opponent.’

She slides across the ground in the bulky IS, holding up her katana while anticipating more shots from Cecilia.

‘Steady… steady…’

The Starlight rifle’s scope slowly acquires the Uchigane dead center. Cecilia then attempts to lead the target by holding the reticule ahead, quickly squeezing the trigger after achieving a lead distance.

*BSHUU*

The moment Tsurugi spots the flashing muzzle of Cecilia’s rifle, she leans back and directs the IS’ verniers frontwards, abruptly switching the direction of her movement which causes the shot to miss.

“Tch.” Cecilia attempts to re-aim her rifle. Her eyes widen in surprise as she sees Tsurugi making a mad dash directly towards her.

“What the…!”

“Too slow!” Tsurugi yells and swings the katana onto her, who holds up her rifle in reflex to block.

*CLANG*

“Ergh!” She pushes the katana away and attempts to pull a quick shot but the rifle malfunctions just as she pulls the trigger.

“It’s jammed? Whoa…!”

Narrowly avoiding a follow-up slash, she boosts backwards to get some breathing space and briefly look at the side of her rifle, promptly noticing a shallow dent and slight fracture from where the katana struck.

‘It’s only a minor fracture… but why wouldn’t it fire?’

She squeezes the trigger again, which then causes sparks to discharge from the fracture.

Tsurugi notices Cecilia having trouble with her sniper rifle and looks over to her katana, which also has a very minor crack.

‘Tch… I can’t lose my only weapon now while she still has a few more…’

Cecilia stores the damaged Starlight rifle back into her IS and looks over to Tsurugi, whose holding a defensive stance with her katana raised.

‘She still wants to fight…? Well then…!’

She deploys her wing bits and commands them to overwhelm Tsurugi as she moves to evade.

The four wing bits simultaneously open fire upon the Uchigane, landing hits on the ground as Tsurugi frequently shifts her movement direction.

In the midst of the attack, she begins to notice that Cecilia’s stationary.

‘She’s not moving… Maybe I could…’

She turns around and dashes towards her, only to be hindered by one of her wing bits.

‘Guess not. I’ll have to think of another way to attack her—’

While boosting away from the wing bits’ fire, she pauses her thoughts and looks at the wing bits and then to her katana.

‘…With her own weapons, that’s it!’

She resumes evading shots from the wing bits, trying to get into position.

Upon reaching a spot, she holds her stance and watches the bits approach her. One of the bits enters attack range and moves to fire while Tsurugi keeps a watchful eye on it.

She holds up her katana at an angle at the slight notice of the bit’s muzzle glowing as it loads up a shot.

The wing bit then opens fire while Tsurugi simply stands her ground and holds up her katana.

The shot deflects off the katana’s angled, broad side and heads straight for the Blue Tears, catching Cecilia off-guard.

“EH…?”

Without hesitation, Cecilia puts up a barrier just in time to block the oncoming shot. The lapse of focus causes her wing bits to lose responsiveness and become momentarily inactive.

‘Got her! Now for the drone bits—eh?’

Tsurugi realizes that the wing bits aren’t moving and looks over to Cecilia, noticing that she’s trying to quickly regain focus.

‘The remote bits stop when she’s distracted…?’

Not long after, Cecilia controls her wing bits to resume their attacks on Tsurugi, who boosts away upon seeing the bits becoming active again.

‘I see… She needs to focus her mind when using the remote weapons! In that case…’

She keeps changing her directional movements to dodge fire from the wing bits while also heading into position for another deflect.

Upon getting enough space away from the bits, she plants her IS feet on the ground. She then turns to face the wing bits as they move into formation.

As the bits achieve a lock, their muzzles begin to glow as all four bits prepare to fire concurrently.

‘Here goes nothing!’

She holds up the katana at an angle again as the bits fire, deflecting all four shots towards the Blue Tears.

‘I blocked the first shot. I’ll block these as well!’

Anticipating the attack, Cecilia puts up a barrier shield to block the shots. The combined impact force of all four shots slightly knocks her off-balance and throws off her focus as she flinches.

Tsurugi exploits the chance and dashes straight for Cecilia.

“An opening!” She yells as she closes into melee range.

“Not so fast!” Cecilia replies with a slight smirk.

Tsurugi catches sight of the Blue Tears’ side skirts shift open, revealing a pair of missile tubes swinging up and aiming at her.

“Tch…!”

Cecilia fires a couple of missiles at point-blank towards the approaching Uchigane, prompting Tsurugi to put up a barrier.

The missiles strike the barrier and explode, causing Cecilia to flinch as she’s too close to the explosion.

“Ergh…!”

She manages to keep her foothold and looks up at the ball of smoke ahead of her.

“I did it…!”

A short moment of silent fills the air, which then shatters as Tsurugi yells in effort.

“I’m not done yet!”

She then jumps out of the smoke from above, holding her katana up above her head.

“CHEEESSSTO~!”

“No way…!”

Without any moment to spare, Cecilia puts up a defensive barrier just as she swings the katana onto her.

The katana hits the barrier, which then begins to quickly falter from the immense strength of the impact and eventually breaks.

“The energy shield…!” Cecilia cringes as she loses her foothold and falls onto the ground while Tsurugi goes up and points the katana towards her face.

Seriously? I thought that the cyborgs were just being forced into becoming gladiators. These guys are turned into equipment. Not treated as alive but living weapons of mass destruction. But... you know... only squishier.

@ Treme - Sci fi is better. IS would be a bit surreal as a fantasy genre.

@ Demi - Let me repeat: These guys are being forced to kill each other and they don't know why. The player character wakes up at the bottom of a tower, tries to go up, and has to kill mooks/bosses along the way because they're likely trying to do the same thing he's doing. How is that not like being treated as inhuman? THey're litteraly treated like toys fighting one another.

Yep, but this is the ISpers. Louise on the other hand was beaten/tortured/trained from birth to be the wtfpwnage warrior (and a bit sore) she is today. Celeste was created like that.

Thing about Vandam I is that its a fic about a world on the brink of war. So when you look very closely at the characters, you find supersoldiers, trained spec ops, assassins, spies and superheroes. At the same time, these "soldiers" are being made into something utterly opposite to their origins, as idols singing and dance about world peace.

Unthinkable and ridiculous. But given this weird world, that's just what the doctor ordered. Doctor being me.

Oh right I was supposed to invade the most well-defended place in this blue earth, I.S. Academy.

Along with my comrades, or maybe, dozens of comrades, we're ambushing the unsuspecting educational institute from all direction. Sea, air, and even outer space.

Nobody knew about that, even then...

Two of them standing there unflinching.

White wings spread gloriously with metal skirt flowing mechanically, gave a sense of inhuman grace and terror.

The machine from the past, the [White Knight], the very first I.S. ever unleashed on the world, wreaking havoc on a country's worth of military force and turning the social balance into women-dominated society.

Which is really controlled by a male.

It's massive rifle add even more emphasis of masculinity into what's supposed to be a female machine.

"[Seriously, girls these days...]" he laughed in a mocking tone, even so far as using open radio Channel "[You need to be punished accordingly]"

The Irony, this is really beyond comprehension.

What's worse, standing aside him is her, the living legend. The winner of the first Mondo Grosso, entitled with the prestige of bearing the name "Brunhilde".

Orimura Chifuyu.

Standing proudly surrounded by disabled comrades of mine, she only has one sword, an ornamental I.S. katana known as Yukihira, stabbed on the ground in front of her and her black machine.

Also known as KureZakura, 1st Generation I.S. rolled out by Japan.

How could be.... is it really impossible for us to win this war?

"[Nobody shall pass]" She said in a completely disinterested tone, yet still packing a sheer intimidation in it.

We really can't win this war...

You're one awesome doctor Also, I just meant that the girls attempt to be inversions by being idols while the guys attempt to play it straight. The guys are as follows: A fighter jet pilot, a teacher/combat engineer/strategist, a child terrorist, and a 15 year old prince. These fit the archetype's of the world more than the others (Bar Louise and Celeste).

Well, I.S. never seems to be invincible. Once again, I refer to Chifuyu's implication about her being heavily injured in her sortie as White Knight, meaning all those pesky machines she destroyed does its wonder.

Now that I.S. being an integral part of Military, the warfare doctrine will be updated. Discounting the possibility of military already have anti-I.S. weapon on their own, I believe military might able to take one or two I.S. with conventional force. But of course, there'll be lots of death because few people is really merciful as Chifuyu.

In Sacred Twins, there will be a scene where a reckless PT member is knocked out instantly by means of 127mm conventional Shell.
