Air's real world setting - Kami (Kasumi) Japan
I remember a while ago, i was looking at a Japanese site that had the real life locations that were used in the Air.. and then the anime version nexted to it - and i believe the link was somewhere in the Air section.
I was just wondering if anyone would know of that link? ^^;

Perhaps some of the following are what you are thinking of. Taken from the thread Bunch of archived threads cached by Google by justsomeguy. The cached links no longer seem to work but at least some of the content was recovered.

But that's a good point (and a good idea) about making a new thread to discuss the topic again. I must admit I had forgotten about the recovery thread so it may be an idea to create some of the other threads that had been partially recovered. I was wondering about renaming this thread to Air's real world setting - Kami (Kasumi) Japan (back to the original name). I'm always impressed when real life settings are used, and it's even nicer when you can compare the two (real life and anime) to see what inspired the artwork. Thanks to everyone for finding the links. |

Renaming the thread sounds like a good idea, and i could see it bringing people back do to this topic.
Yeah, over the past few days i've been looking up on Anime thats used real locations.. & in my opinion Air's one of the best been used.

Actually, we have some scenery similar to that of this place, except for the whole mountain in the background, but the beaches and all are close (not for to much longer, durn condos). |

Yep this was my thread. I also found it pretty cool that the place existed in real life. 'm sure it's a lovely little seaside town^^
My original last post in the thread wasn't saved by google but I think an Animesuki member that said he LIVES there posted. I asked him if the people that live there know about AIR being set there but he didn't reply back. If I ever go there someday and see a crow I will.... Last edited by Neaco; 2006-02-08 at 01:42. |

omg that just makes the anime get even better. It amazes me how the artist were inspired by this scenery and put it into the anime almost the exact same way they did. I wish I could visit there just too see it in person. I can almost see the cahracters being there.

Now that you've reminded me, I think I'll put a mention of this into the AIR wikipedia article for all to see^^ I've made quite a couple additions to it myself since I like AIR so much.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AIR_%28game%29 I only edit wikipedia pages of things I like, and when I do I can spend upwards of hours finding and putting stuff in. All for the sole sake of the enlightment of anyone else who comes to the page^^ |

Wow!! That is amazing that such a place existed. Those pictures are sooo similar to some of the scene in the anime.
I wanna go visit there one day...hopefully before I die. If anyone play the game please let me if some of the scene are the same as in the anime show. I notice that the game came out in 199- and anime was released in 05 so there is a difference in year. |

But if would be nice if you could report back what being there felt like, not just comparing it to the series but as a regular town as well. Did Key try to be as close of the real thing as possible in AIR or did they just snap some photos for backgrounds and used artistic license on the rest? I would also wonder if it is known to even some of the residents of Kami that an anime was based on their town. Altho I would assume not as there's countless animes based on many places in Japan but who knows |
