With the perception of videogames generally viewed as “uncool” in today’s society, you may be surprised to hear that people actually list it as one of their favourite activities to do whilst between the sheets. According to a survey in Great Britain, playing videogames is a more favored activity to do while in bed as opposed to having sex.

The survey asked people which activity they enjoy more while under the sheet; the results are as follows:

1. Sleep (3,150)
2. Talking (193)
3. TV (132)
4. Net surfing (122)
5. Reading (114)
6. Listening to music (105)
7. Using phone (81)
8. Work (77)
9. Computer games (57)
10. Sex (35)

You would think that sex would be higher up on the list but as proven, that is not the case, especially with videogames a spot higher. Are people simply not finding that “special person,” or has gaming just become that much more addictive? If anything, this controversial result certainly shows just how much more convenient playing videogames has become.

Taking into consideration the diversity of gaming consoles today, such as the features available over PSN, we can only imagine how much more popular videogames between the sheets will become once Home releases.

Boy Hospitalized After Imitating Naruto

KOMO-TV, the ABC affiliate in Seattle, Washington, reports that a 10-year-old boy has been in critical condition at a local hospital, after being buried headfirst in a sandbox in an imitation of scenes from the Naruto anime series. Codey Porter was playing with five other children in a family friend's backyard in unincorporated Everett on Saturday when he reportedly asked them to bury him in a one-foot-deep sandbox from his head to his chest. According to Porter's half-brother whose three sons were with Porter, the incident was an attempt to recreate the attacks used by the fictional ninja from Naruto's Village Hidden in the Sand.

Porter is said to have thrashed around before the other children realized there was a problem and called for adults. The adults summoned medical help and adminstered CPR to get Porter breathing again. Medics took Porter to an Everett hospital and then to the Children's Hospital of Seattle. The broadcast television version of KOMO-TV's report included clips from the Naruto anime series and a description of the "sand ninjas."

Porter had been resuscitated with CPR and taken to an Everett hospital and later transferred to the Children's Hospital in Seattle where he died.

See this is why you watch your kids when they're playing. From the time a child can crawl on it's own, children have one goal, to do things that will cause them physical harm. Now they don't do it intentionally, it's just that they don't know any better. Still little kids are quite good at it. I blame whoever was responsible for watching the children involved.

That brilliant. It'll disperse anyone who merely wants to be troublesome and anyone who keeps coming will be confirmed hostile and they'll be extremely off-balance trying to fight like that. It's a very nice option for difficult situations.

Probably 100%. Rather than killing them outright, the US seems to have adopted a more long term strategy. I'm not very impressed though. Just continue to pump out pollution to thin the ozone layer and it'll have the same effect over a larger scale. Let me know when they've increased the output by a few orders of magnitude and made a death ray.

NPR.org, March 13, 2008 · Worries about the U.S. economy sent the dollar tumbling Thursday to a 12-year low against the Japanese yen and hitting record lows against the euro.
The euro exceeded $1.56 for the first time, and the dollar fell as low as 99.75 yen, before bouncing back to 100.16 yen. It was the first time the U.S. currency has traded below 100 yen since November 1995.
The dollar has been declining on growing speculation that the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates further to shore up the sagging American economy and calm jittery financial markets.
"I'd say about 70 percent of the selling today was based on U.S. factors, with the other 30 percent coming from Japan," said Yoku Ihara, manager of the investment information department at Retela Crea Securities. "The Fed has been doing various things to solve the credit crisis but nothing's been working."
Asian stocks dropped to their lowest point in a week. Japan's Nikkei slid 3.3 percent to a new, two-year closing low. Hong Kong closed down nearly 5 percent.
Analysts described the markets as fearful, following news that a Carlyle group fund had moved closer to collapse.

JPMorgan acquires troubled Bear

The deal values Bear Stearns at just $2 a share. Regulators hope purchase will stave off wider chaos in financial markets.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- JPMorgan Chase & Co. said Sunday that it would acquire troubled Wall Street firm Bear Stearns for a mere fraction of what it was once worth amid deepening fears about further erosion of the world's financial markets.

But the reaction of stock markets in Asia was not promising: Major indexes were selling off, with the market in Hong Kong down nearly 5%.

The all-stock deal values Bear Stearns at $236 million, or just $2 a share. The company's stock had closed at $30 on Friday, down a staggering 47% for the day.

Regulators support the deal and the Federal Reserve provided $30 billion in funding: With the global credit crisis worsening, the Fed has been taking dramatic action to help banks and prevent widespread panic.

Over the past three days, roughly 200 JPMorgan staffers were working on the deal, assessing the strengths of Bear Stearns' different businesses and its exposure to toxic mortgage securities, JPMorgan executives said during a conference call held Sunday night.

They noted that the offering price, which comes at a steep discount to Bear Stearns book value price of $84 per share, was to provide a cushion to protect JPMorgan in turbulent times and would provide the company "margin for error."

The fire-sale price raises questions about the value of other investment banks.

It looks like this is going to keep on hurting for a long time to come...

Speculators, particularly forex traders, will find a way to profit from short-selling. It's a long overdue correction, and I'm not particularly worried about the impact of the subprime crisis on East Asia, for the better part of 2008.
