Mikiya Katakura is the musical part of Ali Project and Tarakano the vocal/lyrics one.
So for me Mikiya Kata = Ali Project. But they credit the whole band when Tarakano takes part, like in Avenger when she worked on some theme songs in addition to the ops or eds.

If it's anything at all like Sign, I doubt I'll bother. Sign disappointed me about as much as Madlax, maybe even more. It was a struggle just finishing either of those series. Shame really, because I liked the visual style of both.

Combined with the anticipation I'm feeling for the New .Hack games that are scheduled for release this year, and the fact that I enjoyed .Hack//sign once I got used to it, Of course I'm pumped for .Hack//roots. I just wonder how it's gonna fit in the .Hack timeline.

.hack//Roots is an animeted series that is suppose to occur a short time before the new game .Hack//G.U. in the .Hack timeline. It is suppose to tell some of the prestory leading up to .Hack//G.U.

Because of what I have seen of the .Hack//G.U. game, I expect .Hack//Roots to be much darker then .Hack//Sign.

From your link, more than 70% of all their anime projects they have done were related to OP music only. The only ones with general music were St. Luminous Mission High School, CLAMP School Detectives, Marimite, and Avenger.

It's a strange choice, really, if .Hack//Roots had them for music without doing the OP.

Tri-Edge is in the OP! Score! It can't go wrong if he's going to appear, there has to be angstiness. The ending song is okay, and the soundtrack is nothing to Kajiura's SIGN work. Think I'll wait for a fansub before going any further though

In other news, it seems it'll be airing in HDTV, and if the OP I've got here is any indication, it'll be veeeery pretty if nothing else.

By the end of the TV series, Shino has to be in a coma to set up the game. Meaning, Tri-Edge will definitely show up sometime and go his crap.

Will probably be more action packed than SIGN, but not as retarded as UdeDen. SIGN had the Crimson Knights enforcing the law, Roots and GU ironically show the lawless version of The World where people do as they please and PK is much more common than Sora PKing BT. One of the main parts of the GU and Roots is PKing and PKKing.

Op is so-so. Feels generic... ><

And Demon Haseo is one of his "forms" as a multi-weapon...

Ali Project are doing the OST. Not a good thing. I like the odd bit of their work, but this is just... meh. If they're going to pull off the whole lawless dark atmosphere something like 'Aura' would've helped, but I'm not expecting Ali Project to manage anything like that.

Hopefully Tri-Edge will show up earlier rather than later though, not just in the last episode to pwn Shino. Less talking, more PKing. You're probably right about the multi-weapon, the trailer made it look more armoury but it would explain it.

Watched the first episode. It was pretty underwhelming, considering that it had more dialogue and less action than the first episode of .hack//SIGN.

We get to see Haseo (main char of G.U.) during his first day with the game. (What kind of game doesn't have newbie protection? I bet PKers hang out in the newbie zones and PK new people.)

I liked SIGN a lot. If you read up on the character bios of the GU game, you'll pretty much learn what happens to the .hack//roots characters 25 episodes later...

Well, the thing about The World and The World R:2 is the law vs. lawlessness and the irony of it all. The World R:2 takes what the Crimson Knight whiners from //SIGN wanted and makes it rather extreme...

From what I gather, it's quite a while after Twilight, a few years. The World as we know it is gone due to a fire at company headquarters, this is a new version of the world which was made by splicing in another game.

Aura, no clue. Comas, no clue. Probably have to play the games to find out.

Most likely, Aura is not able to control The World atm. Comas? Yes of course. You can't have .hack without computer-induced comas. Except in the Udeden manga which is mostly a sidestory anyway and takes place while Aura is god-like to The World (ignore the anime version; it's crap and not-canon). There will definitely be coma-time in order to set up the GU game. I guess coma's is a good way to tell Aura is not inpower...
