Because as far as he knows, none of them killed his sister. He has his fault, but he isn't a killer - yet. |

I thought the tongue piercing was the same types of silver charms that she has been giving the guys to use? As in, it was imbued with magic in case of emergency instead of just technology that she can use. Hence, it probably stored a lot of magic for her to use, in addition to what she has on her own.

Episode 6 was pretty good with a few more twist added, Didn't expect Yoshino to have made some plans of his own. For now I can't exactly see what is he trying to pull off by going with the army.

On the other hand, this series seems to thrive on events happening for unexpected reasons, so I'm probably way off base regarding Yoshino's real reason.

But surprisingly falling into a situation where both guys fell for the same girl. Suppose if he had those kinds of feelings all the more reason for Mahiro to not want anyone going near Aika. All those mixed up feelings just driving his rage and revenge mission. Still, in the end Mahiro dropped everything (literally) to go after Yoshino. Also makes the whole army alliance kind of questionable. I mean if one guy with some talismans can tear into an army what exactly do they think a whole clan is going to do? I suppose the army might be good as meat shields.

Great episode. Yoshino thinks about stuff more and in my mind is more likeable, though Mahiro is much more skilled in using magic. What's actually interesting is whether Mahiro and Aika-chan actually had feelings for each other? or is it just Aika playing around with him? Yoshino seems to know everything so maybe suspects Mahiro's feelings for her (though I highly doubt he knows that Aika "played" around with him)
On another note, I agree that forming an alliance with the army seems kind of pointless since they really don't stand a chance against magic. I hope they have more up their sleeves than those small amount of talismans given to them by Yoshino. And why did Yoshino take gas? I understand the gun but gas? Interesting... |

The incest angle just ruined the show for me. Turned a unique (read: not annoying) three way relationship into a love triangle. Oh well. The anime started fairly promising and unusual, but it now seems to be systematically falling to a series of tropes...

What? I thought Mahiro's drive for Aika's revenge was always much too strong for just stemming from familial bonds. Was like heavily implied already going into episode 2 that he had incestual feelings all along...
...if you can even call it that, considering that they're not even blood related + going by Mahiro's introduction of Yoshino (presumably for Aika) in the preivew, his voice sounded like he's already hit puberty. Of course I might be wrong, but sounds like Aika got adopted into the family pretty late, meaning that they didn't even grow up like siblings. XD Which is sad for me, considering I was pegging Aika to be osananajimi, which while there's still hope, isn't very likely knowing what we have so far. Oh well, I guess I'll settle with TakumiXEvangeline. Sure they're only "old friends", but hey, my shippy interpretation of that as osananjimi is as valid as anyone else's. Which reminds me... it sounds like everyone is connected to everyone else. I mean really, Evangeline knowing Takumi as old firends, and Takumi is head of 'anti-mage police' because his father knew a previous leader of the Kusaribe clan? What next, Aika was adopted from the Kusaribe clan and Yoshino is the descendant of someone tied to the Tree of Exodus? LOL

Just when I felt I was getting to understand Yoshino, he pulls one on me. Now, I'm back to wondering if he did have something to do with Aika's death, after-all. The plot seems to enjoy slowly peeling back layers of him in unexpected ways, so it's hard to say how much of the real Yoshino we've actually been shown at this point.
I'm also curious what's up with Jun. If it isn't magic that allowed him to "defeat" Mr. Spear-Man so easily, what was it? :/ Still, for someone who claims neutrality, he was more than willing to give up that talisman, which is interesting due to his seemingly knowing it's all a play done by Hakaze, while simultaneously stating Hakaze could be a worse threat than Samon.

Meh, the death of a sister and a "sister complex" seemed perfectly plausible as incentive in the context of his character and the anime. It's not like him going crazy over revenge makes any more or less sense now. I didn't see any hint of actual romantic feelings involved until this episode. I'm also, I suppose, just really tired of the step-sister "excuse." In Japanese media, if one has a step-sister one is in love with her, or vice versa.

This show keeps pleasing me. Hakaze's undead death, Mahiro's subterfuge, Jun's sweetness and apparent stremgth, Aika's seeming willingness to go with her "brother."
The character design, animation, and Hanazawa Kana made Aika extremely seductive in those scenes. I like the idea that Hakaze may be more dangerous than Samon, and also the idea that our main character may end up as a villain. Okada Mari and the manga are weaving a pretty good story, so far. My first thought is that Jun simply is immune to magic.
