No, they probably do, it's just smarter to do them split-cour most of the time. In the first place, making 24 episodes worth of content should still cost the same, no matter how big a gap the put between the first cour and second cour. The difference is that doing split cour allows them to have 12-14 disc volumes without having to worry about a major drop off in sales, while also giving the animators more time to work on episodes and maintain a consistent quality throughout the series.

And yet Horizon and F/Z is the only show that became hits on this format and they're very recent title.

And oh they also not costing the bold part.

Still think this format is stupid, not bringing profit whatsoever n I think most of the case is because the sponsor demand it.

Well, that also has to do with the fact that only low key/Manglobe series have done this up until those two (with the exception of Gundam 00, and that was a major hit obviously). With Aniplex and Bandai doing more split-cour series they'll naturally start to sale more.

"Costing"?

Horizon only sell 8-disc.

Fate/Zero released in boxset, but the cost of getting it is about par with normal 2 cour show thus the point that split cour show have more benefit because its could sell more disc become invalid for these two.

Small correction, 7 discs. And yes, for the first season. Putting it together with the second season would put it at 14 volumes (more if the second season is 2-cour like I and some others suspect).

Yeah, but Fate/Zero doesn't have a traditional volume release so it's an exception. The BD box release is the equivalent to about a 5 volume release, which would put it just slightly above the average 2-cour show in terms of disc count. With only having a single box release Aniplex might have less overhead costs to cover with shipping, MSRP cut, taxes, etc., so they probably recoup whatever amount of money they will potentially lose by not having a 12-14 volume release when taking that into account.

Ah... nevermind bout Horizon part, just realize some fatal mistake
I thought its 3 eps per disc n that's plan for the rest of it

Anyway this already goes beyond OT.

Let hope XEBEC can make good thing for once.

Off hand the only XEBEC series I watched was Stelliva of the Universe, I thought it was great, so I am confident that this will be good.

Besides being some physics stuff, "Lagrange" is also one my last name.
Though I'm glad to see it put on an anime, i'm a bit disappointed that it's use for one dealing with mecha, alien, girls...

So much potential wasted !

Just hope that the ecchi scenes can't be on the same level as the previous Xebec works since Kanokon, but Yomiuri TV censors anythings that deals with pantsu, female nudity !!

I honestly don't know how ecchi this series is going to be, I am kind of thinking its not. I wonder if Nissan would allow their name to be attached to fan-service heavy series, probably not.

Gundam 00 is by Sunrise. All Gundam anime is by Sunrise with only the recent exception of Gundam AGE which is by both Sunrise and Level 5 inc.

Um...yes, obviously. Where did I say it was produced by a different studio?

I too missunderstood your post he first time I read it and thought you meant gundam was done by manglobe.
Then I read it again and understood what you meant.

Hm, I feel like this doesn't have the amount of pre-airing hype it deserves. Maybe just because it's being produced by XEBEC?

I think it's because there hasn't been a really iconic mecha show in some years. The genre has grown stale for a lot of people.

Well a really iconic mecha series that wasn't related to Gundam or EVA anyway. But you are right the closest I can think of is Super Robot Wars, and that was an intentional cliche storm. Hell probably the most original mecha series the last 10 years or so has been Nanoha!
