Man, that bit with the cats had me ROFL, been a while since I've really laughed that hard with the anime but that good stuff.
Happy's little "wow" at finding the toilet was great, cutest wow I've ever heard.
And Lily...

Thing is I didn't actually think it's really that funny but I still really hard at it for some reason.

And now it's crunch time, Natsu's got his power up so timme to really kick butt!

The extra fight scenes at the camp were pretty cool as well, Kain has proved his quite a hoot to watch

Well, remember that for a time, the FT members didn't have their magic to support them at all, and the protection from death was also removed as well so it's possible that Gajeel's condition might have deteriorated during Erza's fight against Azuma.

... at least that's the explanation I'm keeping to until something else comes up.

And for some reason, the little episode padding/fillers don't bother me nearly as much as the Bleach ones did... Probably because the Daphne filler was so short and the 'padding' actually explains some of the gaps in the story rather than make new ones.

It just occurred to me, but why didn't they bring Gildartz with them when they went to attack Hades? He obviously would have been a big help.

Gildarts is currently chilling out and presumably the other members are like "If Gildarts is in any condition to fight he'll show up on his own".

None of them really make any effort to go "help" him so I think they all basically consider him someone that will do whatever the hell he wants. Also, they don't really know where he is exactly and aren't in any shape to go searching (same thing goes for Juvia, who they also didn't go searching for). The decided to mount the attack on Hades with the forces they had at the camp out of necessity.

Awesome padding is awesome...and the main part was no less, either. If anyone ever asks how to make an episode longer without dropping its quality, remind me to bring this episode up

I agree with you that the padding was awesome, the extra fight being a pleasant surprise, but what exactly do you like about it, or what do you think makes it good? Imagine what people who haven't read the manga would react to the extra scenes, rather than in retrospect of all the other chapters that come after the chapter this episode was based on.

Also, how many manga chapters do you think will make up the next episode? Judging from the scenes shown in the next episode preview, it'll definitely be at least two.

It was good because:
a) it made use of secondary characters, a point in which Fairy Tail has been lacking. It was good to see what they can all do and that they're not just there to fill in guild space. Additionally, it made use of Lisanna, whose comeback didn't have as much of an impact in the manga, with her doing very little, so any extra time for her is welcome. As Kaijo also mentioned, using Kana's card magic and demonstrating the power of the S-class wannabes was nice, as we've barely seen any of her moves.
b) Same goes for Kain and the GH members, playing out the whole war survivor scenario, even if it's just foot soldiers attacking, it still gives a sense of danger to the battlefield. Another plus for Kain using his hilarious magic creatively.
c) Can't talk much about the guild moments, but you know why that was good

I suppose it's a lot better for us.

Next episode should be 2 chapters, it's a good pace to go by...I'm guessing the hades fight will be prolonged.

The added parts from the guild are a possibility for fillers that is rarely used...

The whole point of "filler" is that they are things added to the story that don't affect anything that comes afterwards, in order to make sure not to have the anime and manga stories diverge.

But this kind of filler is, rather, intricately linked to scenes that happen later on... It'll pay off for the anime viewers when they see those "original" scenes and noticed the real meaning.
this kind of filler is "filling" the story in a much more positive sense of "filling out". One could call it "embellishment" or in this particular case, subtle foreshadowing.

Especially for Mashima, who tends to write... on the fly... these sorts of filler can seriously improve the story by making later developments come slightly less out of the blue.

Definitely agree that filler, such as this, really helps the story and enhancing the character development. Fairy Tail does it good, and I've supported it, from the Loki VS Gajeel scene and onwards.

I've supported it since "Changeling". The way they foreshadowed his true nature as a celestial spirit from that point on was awesome.

And yes, Lisanna is a much better character in the anime than she is in the manga, thanks to all that extra development. In fact, I'm not 100% on this, but was it not because of the anime that her popularity as a character increased and Hiro Mashima ultimately brought her back from what was perceived to be the dead?

Lastly, it might be a little easier on the viewership if three chapters were to be adapted into the next episode. I mean, imagine what could be spoiled in the episode 120 preview if episode 119 were two chapters. Besides, we have filler arcs coming up (an established fact, as was discussed on this very forum thread earlier), so...

There are not many anime where the though of filler episodes is looked on favorably, but for Fairy Tail, I see a lot of people actually being excited about it.

As for how the remaining chapters stack to the episode count, I'll let it be for now - either way, there's no need to rush it.

I was wondering why Gildarts only got so little screen time and than i came to this conclusion -

Gildarts is so badass, if he'd bothered to fight those side kicks the battle would end in a matter of seconds. Hence he's a boss-fight-type ...

Which brought me to my nxt point. If Gildarts was there Laxus wouldn't be able to shine D: cuz they'd bought be fighting for well. Glory.

Most likely Gildarts is going to come in half way near the end of the fight and rough up Hades a bit after Hades beats the shit out of Natsu lol. Then some magical way we will see the 'old man' come back alive after Hades seriously hurts everyone. The old man will probably get Mavis's power somehow and just own Hades with the Fairy Law attack

I nearly cried at the ending of ep 119.

This episode shows well how Natsu also keeps the people around him determined and going even at the worst of scenarios.

Haha, no. As of episode 119, that does not appear to be very likely.

Episode 119 was really well done :P @godlystriker i was close to a tear too at the end! Kinda really like how Fairy Tail goes with its emotional scenes especially with the music playing.

I swear Happy is the troll-cat of Fairy Tail.

It looks like the arc is about to end soon. However, a major focus of this arc has not been put in full display... Zeref. On top of that, random kid that showed up for one scene has not been elaborated on. Furthermore, blonde chobits looking girl in intro has not arrived.

Well, Lucy mentioned that her mom also spoke about this one magic thing. It could be possible that her mom disappeared into that dimension.
