So true! This I have seen with my own eyes (in companies too boring to mention).

And there will be layoffs. Oh, gawd, the layoffs.

I mentioned this else where, but yall may not have seen it. I be an elder who has lost the fast twitch and these days anime is much preferred to gaming or even posting and chatting.

I use my PSP as more an iPod than anyelse these days. 2 gig is plenty for me. That H.264 codec RAWKS!

Blizzard has taken part in revolutions in Strategy, Dungeon Crawling and MMORPG games, but what does Activision have to offer that nobody else can do? This seems like a really odd pairing.
EA never was Acclaim. Acclaim Entertainment went bankrupt, and Acclaim Games is a private company. Though I think your reasoning for this would be the BURNOUT series, which was moved to EA when they bought Criterion Games (The owner of BURNOUT) in Aug. 2004.

So could someone telll me the point to why they did this? I mean, someone must be getting something out of it...

It'll be fine. Blizzard takes good ideas and adds a great amount of polish to games than taking risky innovative ones. On that basis I don't think EA will try to make much of a fuss about how Blizzard goes about its business.

Big names merge, new (ugly) logo created, people get fired, and the world forgets a month later =D

Then we will be expecting soon a Call of Warcraft.

The games will suck our lifes away in much shorter period of time and more efficiently.

Where's my World of Starcraft?

Actually, corporate mergers between game companies don't really concern me THAT much, 'cause sooner or later it really doesn't matter within the industry, but if the games stink.....

Please, not another mindnumbingly simplistic, repetitive, highly addictive regurgitation of an old and overused recipe. You'd think the richest gaming company would risk coming up with something original once in a while...
