Pretty much. Nighteyes would have added about as much "drama" to the anime as playing Yakety Sax would have.

Like, I liked the theme as it was in the visual novel, but the music is more bombastic there for a reason. I wouldn't be expecting every occurrence to have the same BGM as it did in the game; anime is a different medium.

Actually, in the VN, George first asked his father to see Shannon's face for a final time. And his father just said his line above. But well, he's a caring father, even no one remember his name.

Sad Hideyoshi is sad.

I thought this episode was much better paced than the other two. I cant really think of too many complaints. I get the feeling however, that its getting higurashi-season-1-ized. Which may be kind of unavoidable really. they do have a LOT of material to stuff in - I honestly do think it would take some really really good directing and production to do 'justice' to the VN. As far as relating to the characters etc, well... theres plenty more of the show to go .. Also, I didnt really mind Marias reactions - I actually thought they were fine, i.e. they matched last episodes reactions. If it was toned down in this one or the last one it wouldnt have worked.. Though, I do think it would have been better if they were toned down a bit in both episodes.

Hmm, yeah, his response would make sense in that context. It was just a weird way to begin the show, since we don't see George ask to see her. It was kind of jarring coming out of nowhere.

And Hideyoshi's sadness is at an end, now.

the only big irk for me is takano...i mean eva's voice. Taka...i mean eva's voice should be a bit more soothing (aka during the hideyoshi x eva private time scene), especially to battler.

Spoiler for adsf:

i am kind of at a crossroad here. My plan was to watch the weekly anime episodes and read the VN to fill in the gaps. Initially I had time to slowly working on it because of the frantic pace in episode 1, but now I almost caught up with episode 3 and got too addicted with it. Should I hold off the urge and wait for first arc to finish or can I just go on reading the VN and curse at the anime later on?
the anime experience is getting better for me at the moment, and I don't want it to be ruined just because I can pick out the cuts made on important events.

P.S. Golden Slaughter (the bgm) is quite badass. I thought the anime had done the scene with George well enough, but I am yet to go back after I read the VN.

Well, since his next line is "Keep that face of hers in your mind when you think of her", it works just fine in the anime version too. Even though George can't see Shannon, he's obviously imagining what she looks like after seeing the other corpses. Hideyoshi is trying to stop George from doing that.

Maria's laugh's too cute to match that twisted face or hers... I was hoping for something more cynical and evil.

Not sure if i can ask this question...but is this series, Umineko, similar to higurashi in that we have the same "story background", or basis at least, but alternate worlds/realities of the same stuff until the mystery is solved or what?

Because they killed off a huge bunch of people already...so just a bit confused :\

Haha thanks, it's really good.

And here's golden slaughter, BUT BEWARE (i'm not a novel reader) DON'T LOOK AT THE PICTURE, i don't even know what it is, but it seems like it could be a spoiler . Oh well, just let it play in the background and close it when u don't need it. It's like a title picture, but i scrolled down once i noticed the difference:

Let's not discuss that on this thread, but I will say that Umineko has some definite similarities in storytelling to Higurashi.
Of course, until the answer arcs come out, even the game players won't know what's really going on.

Oh, and if you're confused about the directions Umineko starts taking, don't ask questions. You're supposed to be veeery confused.

Mmm...that would explain what i saw in the Golden Slaughter BGM picture that i saw by accident >.<!!!

So when people are saying "how many episodes are left needed to cover "episode 1"", are they referring to an actual "close/ending"? (Do you mind if i ask that?/is this considered a spoiler?) <- you know, like how higurashi had separate "episodes"/arcs

Yes, each game Episode is a complete story on its own...but not in exactly the same way as Higurashi. You'll understand more in a few more weeks when Episode 2 starts.

Thank for all the links. Golden Slaughter sounds pretty awesome, but Nighteyes sound kind of strange when out of context.....

Let's back to the topic, back to the topic......
Other than Batter who clearly stated out he felt anger more than sad, i think other characters did OK in expressing their emotion. I thought at least one family member will try to sleep (or isolated himself/herself) to run away from heart-breaking reality, but it seems they all have quite strong mental, especially Batter....

Btw, didn't see anyone questioned about "why the murder of 2nd twilight happened before the dinner of the 1st.... like i did"

Also how could the doctor tell a 9 years old kid that her mother was killed? I thought for sure that they will have to hide the fact from Maria till later
