The water actually works. If anyone's read MoonPhase, it's just like they say there. According to folklore, a vampire's spirit flows with the water, meaning that at best, a vampire loses all power, even the strength of a normal human to hold one's head above the surface, and falls completely to the mercy of the movement of the water, or at worst, the running water actually sweeps the vampire's life away, killing him/her. Either way, a moving mass of water is very dangerous and a vampire is not able to cross a running stream.
BTW, I've heard that the setup here is based on an actual TV show, is that true? It looks very similar to a TV reference in Negima, concerning a show where idols in swimsuits do all sorts of silly contests, and where lower-rated idols have a tendency to litereally lose their tops... I wasn't surprised with the anime's take on vampires and water. In fact, the first time I heard of something similar in popular culture was in the game, Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain for the Playstation. The game explains this weakness as something to do with the purifying nature of water, hence why it's dangerous to vampires.

I just checked, and that's exactly the explanation given in the manga. This is taken from ch. 3, and since it's aired I don't think there should be any problem with me telling it. The purifying properties of water suck out a vampire's energy, so the only way to safely enter the water for a vampire is with some sort of antidote herb.

For Mizore fans, this link (via 2ch) has a Flash preview for one of the R+V drama CDs (I think); it's the first time I've heard Rie Kugimiya as Mizore anyways, and it should be a neat surprise for fans who are usually accustomed to her Shana and Nagi voices. I think she sounds great!

Spoiler:
looking over her past and present voice acting she also plays one of the creepiest ppl in the gundam series imo true but mizore's habits are funny and peculiar at the same time, even how she refers to yukarin and kurumu. Last edited by X207; 2008-02-05 at 00:54. |

I made a siggy of Shirayuki [SHE's made of win, <3]
Nana Mizuki's new Single STARCAMP EP have 4 songs, I am so deeply in love with each and every of them. Notable mentions-> Astrogation and Dancing in the Velvet Moon. There's a vampiric feel in DitVM, *cold*

So we can all admit that a bit of ecchi and fanservice is okay. Of course, I wouldn't call Rosario + Vampire a series with a bit of fanservice and ecchi. |

Though there is quite a lot of fanservice I am happy that the plot is still present . I am just glad this show didnt turn into a Sumomo, seeing the number of panty shots I had my fears . But with each new episode my confidence builds in this show .

This series is still pretty much "I'm in it because of the service and I need at least one series every season" for me. Not expecting much for the plot but having one would be a nice plus The full ED wins
