No, it's not. We (kinda sorta) see both Eva-01 and the Mark.06 elsewhere.

EDIT: As for spoilers in this thread, I imagine that some people (maybe MANY people) will be checking this thread just to find out release dates, fansub status, things like that...and don't want to have the movie spoiled for them. Saying, "Well, they should expect it" is begging the question. So I think spoiler tags should be enforced for EVERYTHING about this movie...except (maybe) the fact that it exists, and that some people like it and some people don't.

Is the identity/nature of the Lilim/Lilin ever addressed in 3.0? The way I see it, they could either be offspring of Lilith born right after the aborted Third Impact or just normal humans (as opposed to Children, who might've mutated because of long-term exposure to Eva or repeated synchronization...and might not be truly human anymore) [which incidentally means the three Children are running away from Will-e].

Also, since we're still about things hinted at in the previous end previews, anything new about the Adams or is it just something GAINAX/Studio Khara threw in for the lulz/change for the sake of change?

Kaworu is a cloned body (albino - pale skin/hair, red eyes) with the soul of a Source of Life (Adam)
Rei is a cloned body (albino - pale skin/hair, red eyes) with the soul of a Source of Life (Lilith).

This is why Kaworu tells her "You're just like me.." They both have human/Lilim forms, but their souls are that of Sources of Life who gave birth to Angels and Lilim, respectively.

if there were four of them during SI, what did NERV/SEELE retrieve at Bethany Base - the Key of Nebuchadnezzar thingy? I know it was never confirmed to be a reduced Adam, but if it is the case, there's a possibility there might be three more of those lying around.

And if the Impact mechanics are still in line with EoE's, the KoN could be used to kickstart Fourth Impact in 4.0...

As everyone has noticed, the final movie being called redo hints heavily at a happy ending that restarts the world. How exactly that restart takes form is the question. They may go for a connection of the tv show to rebuild by saying both are part of a timeloop.

Though, one has to ask? What would a happy ending to Eva look like? Eva 3.0 basically ends just as EoE ends. With human instrumentality being rejected (again, first time was apparently 2.0) but the world destroyed. Looks like we will finally get a look at what that ruined world is like after EoE.


But I have to wonder, if they gave Eva a happy ending, would be rage. What type of happy ending would cause people to rage. Would Eva fans actually except a reset where everyone who has died is magically brought back to life? What if 4.0 ends with Eva basically being an endless loop where Shinji continuously tries to set the world right but fails each and every time?

Take note "Redo" doesn't necessarily mean a reset. It could also mean starting from scratch (if you've done any official project, you'll hear managers tell you this a lot), which does kind of make sense, as mankind is LITERALLY going to have to start from scratch in the aftermath of what happened in 2.0

Myssa Rei, your absolutely right. In fact, I'd be happy if 4.0 ends with Shinji rebuilding the world with a handful of humanity left. Of course, when you think about it, thats exactly how EoE ends. Except, EoE hints at more humans possibly being able to reform themselves while with WILLE in 3.0 there might actually be a group of humans that survives.

I never got the ShinjiXRei shipping. Rei is a clone of his mother, thats just...just eww. I know Rei is super cute and all but still....

Of course, ms red head Asuka holds my heart forever so I'm biased.

Also, for those that say Asuka seems more mentally balanced in rebuild, keep in mind that shes 28 years old in 3.0. I'd expect her to be more mature and more mentally balanced.

I don't think the fan complaints were the reason rebuild was made. I think it really does have to do with Anno wanting to redo the story with a more healthy mental state. The characters in rebuild seem much more mentally stable. I'm sure this is by design and quite important.

Anno is addressing the ago old question from the original series, what if the characters were more positive/willful/mentally healthy? The first series gives the impression that a large part of the down fall of the characters is their numerous flaws. Rebuild demonstrates what I've always argued, that a more positive spin might just make things worst if it changes anything at all.

Just take the ending of 2.0. Everyone came out of that thinking that Shinji saved the day and saved Rei. Turns out in 3.0 that that is not how it happen. Instead, more willful and balanced Shinji just caused (partial) third impact to happen much sooner than in the show.

Quoting TV tropes:

"On this note: when it came to the original Unit 03 fight in the TV series, a lot of people's reaction to the fight with Unit 03 was "Well, why the hell didn't Shinji think to at least grapple with it and prevent it from choking him, he didn't have to just give up". Come 2.0, Shinji does in fact manage to pry Unit 03's hands off of 01's neck and for a moment it seems he can at least fight it to a standstill... and then Unit 03 sprouts two more arms, allowing it to pin 01's arms and strangle it at the same time, leaving Shinji properly helpless."

Another example of a more willful Shinji falling to change anything.

That said, I still enjoy seeing a more willful Shinji. I can relate to him better than the pathetic failure he was in the TV series.

does anyone else wish for a follow up story showing the exploits of Asuka and Maria during the 14 years between 2.0 and 3.0? I would certainly love to see an OVA/manga about those two girls exploits during that time and how they grew up. And how they handled discovering they don't age and so are stuck as not fully developed women.

She can't be a full (exact) clone as her hair color and eye color are different. So there is a difference genetically between the 2. Therefore, thery are 2 different people.

I'm thinking that the initial plan was for Rebuild 3.0 to tackle the initial aftermath of 3rd Impact, as the preview at the end of Rebuild 2.0 hinted at, but somewhere along the line we got this instead. Hopefully production notes about that get released eventually, as it would make some nice background at the very least, and shed light on what exactly happened in the 14 year interregnum, like where the heck some of the supporting cast went. Kaji for example, which is strange given how he was in ground zero, yet everyone else who was there actually made it out in one piece (Misato, Ritsu, Maya, Makoto, and Shigeru for example).

Then there's the question about Shinji's classmates. Come 3.0, the assumption was that everyone who wasn't at the Geofront at the time died due to Impact (Shinji finds Touji's nametag for example), but Sakura's chipper attitude kind of suggests otherwise.

That, or maybe the younger Suzuhara doesn't really hold it against Shinji.
