They're both great old school RPG and both provide codes to redeem in GOG if I'm not mistaken.

Note: The golden rule for the Steam sales is simple: Only buy games that are a daily or flash deal. All other games either wait for it to go daily/flash or buy them on the last day of the sale. That way you always get the larger discount

The game came out last month and it's already being sold on a 40% discount. Let's just say that reviews weren't particularly favourable.

New Vegas is a good game if you happen to like those Bethesda first-person RPGs and it's currently cheap as hell, Kerbal Space Program is a lot of fun and whoever doesn't have Portal should buy it right now. Those would be my recommendations.

For $5, ArmA II might be worth it even if it doesn't work. For some reason, ArmA does not work with my current setup and I'd rather not buy a game that doesn't work, but $5 is just a meal down at the grocery store... hmmm....

Yes, yes, yes, YES, YES, HELL YES I would also recommend the Portal series, especially if you like Puzzle games! Even if you don't, I'd still recommend it. The portal puzzles aren't really hard (I'm not good at puzzle games and even I could solve them. ), the story is surprisingly deep and the dialogue is actually well written, the humor is great (especially without resorting to dirty, racist, and non-PC humor), and the first person view actually gives a unique immersion.

I hope to see more Portal sequels, hell I hope to see more FPP (First Person Puzzlers) games in the future, it's a genre with alot of potential.

Both the first Crysis and Crysis Warhead are both available for 9 bucks (well, $8.99 technically but I'm rounding it off.. ), a good deal IMHO. However, even with the latest i7 Processor and latest video card they still struggle a bit to run on current rigs so for anyone interested in picking up both games I'd suggest going here to do some "tweaking":

http://www.tweakguides.com/Crysis_1.html

I used this guide to help get Crysis Warhead to run smoothly. IMO Crysis Warhead isn't quite as god as Crysis 2 & 3 but it's still good solid fun. Hell, I think it's actually better than the first Crysis. And for those that haven't picked up Crysis 2, it's also available for roughly 9 Bucks on steam so I'd recommend picking it up as well.

Then you should pick up Quantum Conundrum. It's made by Kim Swift, one of the original members of the team that made Narbucular Drop and were latter picked up by Valve to make the original Portal.

How hard is Dark Souls for PC? Is there difficulty settings? I hear these games are very good, but also very hard. Dark Souls:Prepare to Die Edition is $7.49 on Steam right now.

The main thing you need to know is that Dark Souls for PC is almost exactly the same as the Xbox 360 version (i.e. it's a straight port with few of the usual PC enhancements, which is unfortunately due to the developer's inexperience with PC). If you're going to buy it, I strongly suggest using a Xbox 360 controller (or another controller that supports XInput) to play it.
Another thing to note is the game requires Games for Windows Live for online, so be sure to have or create a Microsoft account if you haven't done so.

We're a week into the Steam Summer Getaway Sales now, and there's 4 days left. Today's deals include:
  • Dead Island Series 50 - 75% off
  • Grand Theft Auto IV 75% off
  • Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition 75% off
  • Fallen Enchantress Series 66 - 75% off
  • Tropico 4: Steam Special Edition 80% off
  • Batman Arkham City GOTY 75% off
  • Ace of Spades 75% off
  • Mount & Blade: With Fire & Sword 75% off
  • Evoland 50% off
  • Deus Ex: Human Revolution 85% off

Anyone tried Fallen Enchantress: LH? It's got great reviews, but $14 bucks (66% off) is still a bit high imo. None of the DLCs are on sale either which would add another $10 bucks? Not sure if it's worth it, but I've been meaning to get it. Maybe it'll hit the flash sales over the next few days?

I just remembered, there's another First Person Puzzler I heard that was pretty good: Magrunner: Dark Pulse. Your mileage may vary on the premise/inspiration though...

Oh hell, I *BARELY* remember this game! It's out already?! I'll have to check out this title.

Another FPP I'd recommend is "The Ball", and it's on sale for a cheap $5. It's more of a "Physics" FPP game where you use a Giant Metal Ball to solve puzzles, and also use it for combat on occasion. Which is my main gripe with this game, the "combat" is lousy at best (which is why the last level may not be so enjoyable) but the puzzles are very satisfying.

Yeah, Far Cry 3 will have to happen, probably. And Deus Ex: HR.

As a note, that puts MW3 down to $19.99. Great price.
