Oh hi, I'm new here. Any ways, I watched the entire second season and thought it was pretty good, ending for Yozora was a little odd so even though it will take a year or two for it to return I still hope for it. Even, if Yozora doesn't end up with Kodaka I'd like her to have a happy ending some how, her running away and crying is far from that. Funny thing, I used to support KodakaxYozora after the season 1 finale but than season 2 came and I started to dislike her and found myself rooting for KodakaxSena in the end hope they really do get married at the end of the series.

I actually just finished watched the 2nd season a while ago - I was never a fan of Yozora, and was stuck at the episode in season 1 where Yozora finally reveals that she was the childhood friend (yes, you can see that a with all those foreshadowing, but I just didn't like where it was going).
I must say that I enjoyed season 2 way more than season 1. The character development and story is much better. The only thing is gotta be the last segment with Yozora in the last epsiode - but I guess it's there to build suspense for the next season (or the next volume for the LN). It was interesting to learn why Kodaka is so "dense" and always seems to have hearing problems. It's understandable that he only wanted to keep the status quo of the club, instead of getting serious with one of the girls. Rika has really stepped up as the main heroine, and probably the actual protagonist of the story with her line in episode 12 that revealed her referring herself as "Boku" instead of the usual "Rika". That has got to give her more weight in the story from now on.

My thoughts:
Rika: Just as planned. ehehehe, now I steal the main character's spotlight and finally take Sena's place as Kodaka's rightful wife. Screw Sena's cheats. >///< === As I thought, I felt that Season 2 accomplished more than Season 1. However, is this really for the best? It might take a while before S3 even comes.

Unfortunately, the author put Rika in that role. While that would be great for Rika if this were RL, it's terrible for her from the standpoint of the story. Either she becomes the #1 candidate and the story ends, or she's written into a secondary role to prevent her from becoming #1 and ending the story. Quote:
Her deconstruction and downfall in the latest LN and end of S2 is something which had to happen for character to develop. As you point out, she's been living in the past, hoping to rekindle what she had in the past. Most of the insults and jokes she directs at the others (especially Sena) are attempts to maintain the status quo while she waits for Kodaka to revive their past relationship. Something that cannot work because Taka's relationship with Sora was boy/boy. What Yozora wants now is a woman/man relationship with Kodaka, but that won't come about from reviving his boy/boy feelings (emphasized by her dressing more like a boy). So she needed to be defeated and deconstructed before her character can grow and develop. For most of the series she was the dominant member of the club. She needed to be taken out of that position so she can (hopefully) come back as a rebuilt and more developed character. That's what happened with her admitting to Rika that the BL game was good, her movie script being found out, Sena's confession, and her decision to take some time away. Each took her down a notch from her comfortable (but static wrt Kodaka) position as dominant club member. It's all a setup for a new and improved Yozora to return, changing the dynamics of the relationships within the group. |

Great first post, and welcome to Animesuki forums! You summarized and analyzed the situation quite well. As it seems like we are heading towards a turning point in the story, it really is hard to predict what will happen next. I do expect a different Yozora. Now, something I don't expect to happen but probably would throw a huge wrench in the story is that if Kodaka actually decided to accept Sena and dates her while Yozora is away. Then when Yozora comes back, she is in for another shock and makes her "strike back." Of course, I don't expect it to go this route, but it would be very interesting to see.

Just finished the series last night and to be fair the humour is good.. hilarious etc.... The only one lacking is a concert linear plot.... We got new characters but they are just the same... nothing really changed.. yeah... confessions etc... but we still have a stupid in denial Kodaka..... Now Yosura goes EMO... my...
I gave it a 8/10 overall.... basically that's because of the jokes and gags... |

Yozora's problem is that on the surface, her only goal is to be friends with Kodaka and she want's to be his closest friend. A side benefit to that goal will be a romantic friendship, but most of all she wants him back like she did 10 years ago.
But deeper down, she is fighting the fact that she has friends other then Kodaka, and that he will have other friends as well. This is her biggest conflict. In fact, the reason she ran away after Rika officially became Kodaka's friend is because she wasn't first. Sena has confessed wanting a romantic relationship, and Rika has successfully achieved an official friendship. Although it's obvious Rika wants more then just friendship, she can cope with Kodaka being romantic with Sena. Yozora, however, can not. She will continue to struggle with it until she admits wanting friendships outside of Kodaka, namely Sena herself. It may very well be that the series is waiting for her to drop those barriers for Kodaka to see her differently. Until that happens, he will continue to respect her good points, and be scared of her bad points. Nothing will evolve. If anything, Rika has the most going for her. Despite her weird...issues, she has been the most up front and honest amongst all the girls in the harem so far. Kodaka could respect that and fall for her, but it will likely end up being that the two of them will become very close friends, and either Yozora or Sena will be the girlfriend. The real question is what happens to the loser between Sena and Yozora. This is why I think they'll need to become good friends first before any romance with Kodaka is concluded. As for Sena herself...her cold nature to anything she doesn't have an interest in is going to become an issue as time goes on. This is probably her greatest weakness along side Yozora's inability to share her friendship with Kodaka and to stop being a bully. The Student Council president may very well be a good character to show Yozora how wrong she is about popular people, and that not all of them are bad. In fact, I think that character has been put into the series for that very reason.

After watching the last episode my 1st reaction was that Rika is just awsome and should be the one Kodaka ends up with. But after thinking it through I really want Yozura to be the one. Why? 2 reasons.
1st Yozura needs Kodaka more than any other. 2nd I beleive Kodaka would make Yozura happier than if he ends up with one of the others. It would mean the world to her and I just want her to be happy. I know there is a wonderful person inside of her. Just my 2 cents. |

Yozora is the only one that still gives me the feeling of loneliness when I watch the Anime. I really fell sorry for her since all she wanted was to have a friend again.
That being said something that is really starting to get on my nerves is the pretense that they keep putting up that they don't have friends anymore. In every conceivable way that you measure what a friend is they are all already friends with each other. I really can't wait for the third season since it will obviously focus on Yozora and the growth that her character still has available. The first season focused on Sena and the introduction of all the characters, the second season saw Rika finally growing into a main character and the first friend that Kodaka "publicly" acknowledges. The only way that I will keep watching this Anime is if they finally focus on all the scars that Yozora has thanks to the events of ten years ago. |
