radeon 9000 installation problem

hi well ive been trying to install this for a while now but i was given a radeon 9000 from my brother but i have been having trouble uninstalling my ge force 4 mx 440 agp everytime i think ive installed the radeon it gets to the start up screen and comes up with loads of errors and basically says that every thing has been deleted or that it cant be found my pc is a celeron 2.6 512 ram 80 gig hdd not that its gonna help but if anyone can help me it will be very much appreciated

im assuming that they are both agp, uninstall it from the control panel > system > divice manager > then retart with the new one.

see if that makes a difference.

i did that thats why im assuming that i did not uninstall the geforce properly and yes they are both agp

Did you uninstall the nVidia drivers from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel? If I remember correctly, the GeForce drivers were called Detonator. Then restart and install the ATI drivers (Catalyst)

Download Driver Cleaner ( http://www.driverheaven.net/cleaner/ ), install, uninstall nvidia drivers, reboot into safe mode, run driver cleaner, then install the radeon.

If your motherboard has an inboard nvidia soundcard, be sure not to uninstall these drivers or youll screw up your whole motherboard drivers.
