Thank god for an anime comedy that isn't just slapstick garbage. I'm loving how much this show plays up the contrast between Krauser's real life meek J-Pop loving personality and his stage persona's hardcore lyrics and in your face style. It's so over the top and so vulgar, yet I can't help laughing at it and loving it in the same way I did with Ping Pong Club.
Though I do have a lingering feeling that it's shock value and premise could wear off very fast thus ending in mediocrity. For now I'm loving it though and am kind of glad it's only a 13 minute long show. It gives me a bit of confidence that the creators know this premise is only good for so long and that it won't burnout midway through, but we'll see. |

Great show... great marketing also... I just got back from Japan and they had posters of the movie, anime, and manga all over the place. So I started looking for the show when I got back. Even at the popular music store Tower Records (similar to FYI here in the states) have the album for the series already... I wonder if theres any torrents for the album?

Though IMO, the better metal rock parody is Metalocalypse on Adult Swim. Way more brainier in how stupid and ridiculous it is. But this show does it pretty well with the double life as well. But the comedy is way more obvious. But I like that too. |

Oh. My. God. I don't think I've laughed this hard in a good long time. After going through two episodes, I'm left with the impression that this series has a limited amount of gimmicks it can pull out but the ones it's used so far have been side-splitting hilarious. Watching the personality changes was just awesome. It helps that the song lyrics are juxtaposed with either the main character's softer music or images of his normal life to create a jarring scene that delivers the comedy in spades.
And the director is just plain awesome. Her dialogue just had me in stitches. Who the hell talks like that anyways? A show to keep watching for sure!

Episode 3:
As expected, this series doesn't have a whole lot of gags left to go and it really showed this time around. There's still some pretty funny moments and the crap he pulls to get himself out of that jam was pretty creative, even if it's not as over-the-top as before. The Director visiting the apartment scene wasn't that great though since you sorta know what to expect. Basically this series shines brightest when it's not taking itself seriously and lets loose completely and becomes unrepentant in its parody of death metal. Let's hope we see more of this series pushing at the extremes since it's got a lot of potential as long as it doesn't get all lovey-dovey emotional.

Episode 03 didn't have as many over the top funny moments, though it was still pretty damn lol, especially the second half. Negishi pretending to act high was brilliant.
Next episode looks to be pretty damn crazy. Just what we need!

It's funny but it is also one of those shows that I can see getting repetitive. I mean there is only so much you can do with this concept.
Anyways so Negishi comes off as a nice guy who was forced into this Death Metal stuff but how did he get involved in the first place and how is he able to come up with all the lyrics. It's always the quiet ones as they say. It would be pretty funny if Aikawa ended up having a double life too. |

And yeah, irony of ironies if she leads a double life. Whereas Negishi has blown his cover, Aikawa has yet to reveal anything... but we shall see!

He actually has original corny lovey dovey songs writen, then the DMC lyrics are the exact opposite lyrics of his originals. It's also apperent when Aikawa is singing one of the lyrics to a song he sung to her and the DMC song in the background is the exact opposite.
