Wasn't too happy when the main story was put on hold but I can't complain since these last two chapters are the best Miura has written in a long time imo. I wonder if something in these chapters will be relevant in the Elfhelm arc, which would explain why he needed to get this backstory out before he progressed further.

Meh, that mini-arc was okay, but it doesn't really compensate for slowing down an already slow plot. At least it's over.

Maybe I am the only one but this arc seriously felt like some editor actually asked him if he is going to continue the manga. And because Miura didn't wanted to bother with the main story he threw some ideas about the childhood together and called it a day. This way they can publish a few chapters and Miura can continue to pretend that Berserk doesn't exist.
Of course I am talking out of my ass but at this point I can't think of any other reason. |

New chapter, so the child may have been the fairy king? Looks like the use of the berserk armour opens his 'spiritual eye'.

But all previous hints leads to the theory this is Guts and Casca's unborn child. Griffith using its body to take a corporeal form. I don't think Schierke was told of Guts and Casca conceiving a child. |

I'm sticking to this theory. Also, schierke doesn't know what truly happen during the eclipse or does she? Actually, I don't think anybody knows about Guts and Casca's relationship with the Band of the Hawks. I think I might need to re-read the previous volumes again.

I'll believe that when I see it. It's been "bi-weekly" since forever, with a release every few months on average
I'm glad we're back to the main story though. Could've done without that boyhood arc. I'd rather they just get to Elfhelm already, it's been a plot point for so many years now. Bring back the sane Caska again, then we can deal with what she wants or whatnot. As for the kid, it's possible that the Elf King has made Guts' and Caska's son into his avatar. It's not an either-or situation, Shierke can still be right. At any rate, right or not, there's some kind of hidden thought to Miura bringing this up now. He's always been meticulous in his planning. |

But like, everyone else has such complicated relationships and there are a surprising number of possibilities. I mean, Franese and Serpico and Roderick and who knows else... Isidro and Schirke and Isma.... ( Yea yeah......I personally loved Isidro and Schirke b/c they always squabbled yet there was some cute moments, but Isma/Isidro just came out of nowhere 0-o) I'll tell you, my favorite is Joachim X Nina, it was so touching for them to get back together at the end.... Made me tear up a bit.... ;_;
